From what i've heard 6 seems to be a bit generous for Elemental.

Interested in the score for the new Castlevania game. Looks like it might be worth checking out.

DJ if its any help, gamesTM also gave it an 8 saying it was a well done reimagining and rework of a classic game - or something to that effect, I read it last night all sleepy eyed.....

It's getting good scores all over, I've gone from ignoring it to really wanting it. Apparently it's a good 15 to 20 hours, Edge does note the first 6 hours play out like a gothic God of War. The demo hits PSN & Live tomorrow I think.

Hydrophobia [360] - [3]

Owch. Maybe I was giving it a free ride as anything with decent water physics gets me going. :P

gamesTM gave it a 7 saying sure it has flaws but the water is well done, if sightly under used and considering its from a small team and is part 1 of a triogy it shoudl definitely be sampled.

I dont know what it is about edge but its always seems to me that they sit down to a game to just have fun, they just go in and attack until they are actually impressed by something....

Following up on Hydrophobia, I was trying the demo out and I've got to admit, it's kind of pants. It's got some pretty neat potential, but everything feels way too stiff for this kind of climbing and swimming adventure.
Don't get me started on the voice acting! Oof.
I've lived in Scotland all my life and have never heard anyone who sounds that painfully grating!
If you've played the game, you'll know who I'm talking about. :x

So yeah, disappointing.

Another follow up to Hydrophobia

Seems the devs have thrown a shit-fit over the EDGE review!

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/09/hydrophobia-developer-defends-game-attacks-critics.ars

Drama!

Can't really speak for the full game, but I kind of imagine that could be pretty naff considering how the trial felt.

Also, slightly unimpressed with the article above. Maybe I'm just unfamiliar with their style of reporting, but it didn't strike me as an opinion piece. Instead of just saying that these publications weren't impressed and the developers went mental, they felt the need to jump in with petty jabs at the game. EDGE and Destructiod are big boys. They can stand by their own opinions without needing some twit to jump in and back them up.
If you're going to write a review, save it for that, man!

not just Edge: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010 ... ritics.ars

Jim Sterling writes for Destructoid, and he mentioned on Twitter that Hydrophobia was not his favorite game. Jones apparently saw this message, and did something odd—she called Samit Sarkar, the site's sports writer. She wanted to talk to Jim Sterling, right now.

"She was very forward, very pushy, and if you ask me, completely out of line," Nick Chester, the Editor in Chief of Destructoid, told Ars. "It's one thing to try to contact a writer or even that writer's superior to discuss content that's been run—it happens, usually in an attempt to do damage control—but it's another to bother someone's co-worker based on a tweet. We're not even talking about content we had run on the site at this point.

"She also said something to the effect of 'We've put three and a half years into this game, and you just don't get those kind of scores if the game is bad," in reference to one review—OXM, I believe—that gave it a high score and praise."

According to Chester, she demanded Jim's phone number, saying that if he was playing the game wrong she needed to correct it. "After this incident, she called again, no more than an hour later," Chester explained. "Same pressure. Same spiel. She wanted to speak with the author of the tweet now, and later emailed him with similar complaints and requests that she had leveled at Samit earlier."
