An 8 for the same Castlevania game that has been universally panned elsewhere?

I really don't understand Edge sometimes.

I'll always defend Edge's reviews as they have the right to say what they think about a game even if it differs from the accepted norm. However I find myself less and less interested in their review section. This has nothing to do with the standard, more to do with the fact that I think I've been playing games long enough to know what I like and can judge whether I am going to like a game from the coverage it receives pre-release rather than having to wait to see how it scores.

The magazine is still excellent and last months section on arcades just proves that traditional magazines still have a place in gaming.

Lulwhat? No one is proposing banning EDGE or razing their building to the ground; it's just as fair game to disagree with an opinion as it is to have an opinion in the first place.

I'm sure EDGE appreciate your staunch defending of their rights

No, but seriously, people do get genuinely angry that Edge even considers disagreeing with Metacritic sometimes. Not people on here, so much. But a scout around the net will dig up loads of people who are angry and confused at how another individual disagreed with them about the quality of a game.

It's very strange.

I tend to think Edge perhaps doesn't do itself any review-based favours by dropping bylines. When you're presenting one person's opinion as cold, hard magazine-hivemind, people probably are going to react that way.
