Wouldn't mind knowing a bit about the Ghostbusters score; I'm guessing decent story but repetitive gameplay.

Technical issues, faltering framerate seemingly drops for no apparent reason. Too short you're looking at a 5 hour playthrough.

From the closing paragraph..

These faults aside, Ghostbusters is deserving of high praise, not only for capturing the look of the films so well, but for translating the basics of Ghostbusters fiction into original mechanics that, as well as being great fun to play with, simply feel right. With a little more in the way of technical polish and a few more hours of playtime thrown in, this would have been one of the best film-based games of all time. As is, it's a great effort.

It may be worth noting that it was the PS3 version that was reviewed.

I find that incredible. I would never pay £30 (or whatever) for a 5 hour game.

Don't buy Terminator : Salvation then. According to a few of the guys over at the rllmuk forums, it's all over in four hours. Oh, and it's shit.

So Fuel (slammed especially by Eurogamer) gets an 8, and Infamous (praised by everyone and their dog) receives a 7?

Fucking backwards Edge folk.

Eurogamer gave Infamous a 7 as well. From my short time with the demo, this sounds pretty fair to me.

But yeah, Fuel has always looked shit.

I managed to restrain myself from getting FIFA09. If you could just summarise what they've said about 10?

It continues to strike me as bizarre that Edge award scores. Their writers are so opinionated - which is a really, really good thing, may I point out - that it seems a disservice to both developers and readership. Surely they know how easy scores are to misrepresent?

There'll be a very good reason why Fuel got a higher mark than Infamous, but you can't tell what it is from the numbers alone. Unfortunately, people look at the numbers alone. Sigh.

Why not? If there's no replayability then it's an instant trade in, and you've recouped £15-20.

I've never bought a game I haven't replayed - or wanted to replay at some point again in the future - and I'm used to getting decent value for money with PC games. Like, say, Portal for example - it came as part of the Orange Box that I paid £20 for back in the day. It had about 5 hours gameplay too, but it effectively cost me around £5. And this was shortly after release.

It's just the principle of spending that much on an individual game knowing it will only last around 5 hours. It's never gonna happen, even if I could potentially get half the value back afterwards.

But then, I guess that's why I have no real motivation to buy a console.

Whoa! Sorry Papa forgot all about you. To be honest they don't really say much, it's more an article on the turnaround of FIFA's fortunes with interviews with the producers. The scant FIFA 10 talk is toward the end of the article. 360 degree player movement, better trapping etc.
