Unlike Bioshock, this might live up to all that praise. Look forward to it in future.
But right now, let's find that advert music again...
[EDIT] Play reports the games alone as sold out and haven't clicked over from their pre-order screens yet. Mad! |

Thanks, that was the report on the 10pm news. Will still link to it on the site though. |

Asda is the place to go. They had reams of the game at my local one. (Literally two huge crates. Must have been hundreds of copies in there!). I went to tesco, before asda. They only had 10 of each console. Mugs. They're missing out on some crazy money.
As for the game, its epic. Cars are a bit hard to control though! |

Wait, I thought Kotaku did the whole Kevin Leddins thing and didn't use scores?
Oh shit. About 4 hours before I head out and mope about in Stirling while waiting for the shops to open. Most exciting! |

Tesco was pretty mental. I got there at about 11:10pm, and I was told to get a ticket, I was already 12th the queue. They had about 30 copies of each.
By midnight there were about 70 people milling about. It all kicked off when the last copy was sold. Security had to calm things down. ¬_¬
Had a good blast. Wow. The framerate, as I feared, is wank. But then I'm confident there is something wrong with my eyes, because I detect poor framerates more than anyone else I know. However, everyone noticed when you pile into loads of people, how much the framerate drops. Must be all that Euphoria going on.
I can't say I'm overly disappointed by that - it was in all the trailers, everyone told me 'it's the last thing they sort', but once again... they haven't. Rockstar consider this acceptable, and nobody else seems to care so I'll just concede defeat.
Performance aside, it seems like a great game in the most brilliantly realised world yet. It has some stuff I thought they'd get rid of this gen, such as the blatant difference between mo-cap cutscenes and standard animated ones. You got it a lot in the previous GTAs, where only the key missions were motion captured. The majority of the scenes here are very nicely done, but I've already come across a couple of standard animated ones. It breaks the illusion somewhat.
[edit] OK I take it back. A little. I just restarted the game and the framerate is significantly better. The game just continues after the installation, see. Must be the equivalent of not defragging after installing a PC game? You'd have thought that wouldn't be an issue on a console... and if it was... they would tell you to restart the game after the installation. Anyway it seems to have done the trick. So a hot tip for all PS3 users! Don't play it for three hours immediately after you install it like I did! Watch the (awesome) intro, and exit and restart!
The framerate isn't really that great though still... |

I didn't really notice any framerate issues on the 360 version. I just think you have shit eyes! Not seen any of this texture 'pop-in' either! |

I think this is the first contender we've ever had that stands a chance of knocking Ocarina of Time off the top-spot on Game Rankings. |
