A new definition under the dictionary term "Liar" could be added for "City Link".
This woefully inept company has tried twice to deliver a package I ordered from scan.co.uk (20" monitor) to my house, both times their website claiming "Unsuccessful Delivery Attempt".
Both times, two people were at home waiting for the package to arrive. Both times, sweet FA turned up. Not even a "you were out" card through the letterbox.
Not only do they decide not to deliver what they were supposed to, when they were supposed to, they also lied on their website claiming "unsuccessful deliver attempt" i.e - you were out.
So I'm made to feel at fault when clearly they just fail horribly.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and detail just how epically they've failed, and demand answers, and solutions.
I do have some questions for the Preys-World community:
a) Has anyone had this happen to them?
b) Are City link supposed to stick a "you were out" card through letter box in the first place?
c) Anything I can say to Citylink to speed up the resolution process other than "Youve attempted twice and failed when people were in. You suck"? |

Maybe they've simply been given the wrong address? |

Shitty-link. Oldest joke in the book.
That said, they haven't conned me yet. But yes they do stick a card through. |

Nope.
The delivery address listed on the Scan invoice is correct, I've checked.
If you're insinuating Scan somehow gave City Link the wrong address, than they fail even more than I'd originally suspected. |

Yes, that is what I'm suggesting.
And in that case it's Scan who fail, not City Link. |

True, but the point is if the address got changed between my invoice and the label on the package, that's not me that failed, it's Scan/Citylink.
If I'd decided to not be in and they left me a card saying "owned", I would happily hold my hand up and make re-arrangements. |

I was waiting for a parcel to come, via City Link - watching the website. Said En-route in local van. Then changed to "returned to depot, delivery failed".
I'd been in all day.
Rang them up - driver said "Your flat is the top bell of the three up the stairs, innit mate?"
"No, you cock. It's the house with the giant number 43 above the door. I know the address is right because I wrote it and posted it to myself from the other side of the country."
Bastard was too lazy to try and deliver so made up some cock-and-bull story. Management made him bring it round on his day off - the box was muddy and soggy, for some reason. Everything still worked, though. He at least feigned apology.
Lazy bastards. |

I missed a city link delivery yesterday because I was pooing. We got a "you were out" card.
Turns out that when it came today my brother had ordered a SATA HDD for a 5-year-old motherboard anyway, the massive nonce. |

Sounds like he stuck it in the mud in the hope that you'd not get what you paid for for ruining his day off. |

On an interesting note, one of my work colleagues says this has happened about 8 times to him in the past. It turns out City Link actually outsource some of their deliveries to another company, who are paid by the number of parcels they deliver.
Therefore, if you are isolated away from the main drop off points, and your delivery guy is unscrupulous, he might just pretend he can't deliver to you so he can deliver to addresses closer together to increase his delivery count. |

Royal Mail can be awful too. A story was in the local paper a while back, set of West Wing DVDs where to be delivered to an old lady, she was out so they left the parcel in the bin. It was bin collection day though so it got crushed. I think it got sorted in the end but still, what idiot leaves a parcel in a bin when they're out! |

Strange, the one time City Link was in danger of screwing up an eBuyer order of mine, they had my mobile number as printed on the label and rang me up so I was able to get them to the right street. After that, everything went to work.
Also waiting in for an Amazon Super Saver delivery tomorrow or Saturday since that's also an outsourced courier job whenever the package is too big for my letterbox.
Chrisnewell - that's mail dumping, so hopefully those Royal Mail peeps got the sack! |
