Vision M is expensive at £250

Fuck, really? How did that happen? I paid £190 for mine nearly 2 years ago.

Thats because Creative are confusing you. The 'classic' Zen:M was discontinued months back, but the new Zen:M only launched a few weeks ago (hence the high prices).

I love my old Zen to pieces though, you might be able to find a cheap second hand one on ebay.

They've replaced the Zen with that piece of overblown largeness? Crying or Very sad

That makes me sad.

DarthS has, I believe, erroneously linked to the Zen Vision:W, which has been out for a few years. I've got one, it's 30gb, clunky as hell, but works. It's definitely not the 'new Zen:M' as he claims it to be!

That's the Zen Vision: W, been around as long as the Zen Vision: M.

The 30Gb Zen Vision: M is still selling in the Creative Store for €289.99 == £215.51 so it clearly hasn't been discontinued. Looks like you'd get it cheaper elsewhere though.

EDIT: One drawback to the Zen Vision: M is that it won't play AAC audio, not a problem if you only use it for music but I watch a lot of TV shows off it and there's nothing more annoying than seeing "Audio Format Not Supported".

Sorry, got confused. The new Zen is pictured here (in my defence it looks a lot like the Zen:W).

The classic Zen Vission:M was discontinued last year, although if your lucky there might still be some stock floating about. Couldn't say why its still on Creatives store, but look at other retail sites and its clearly listed as discontinued.

Also worth looking at this site for some other ideas.

If it's not an iPod, what's the point?

The Samsung P2 looks very good. As does the Microsoft (Eek.) Zune players, but the first is iPod Nano prices (£130 for 8GB) and the Zune isn't really available in the UK officially so some of the features won't work.

Curses! Managed to break the damn headphone port in my Zune. Mad

So, It looks like I'm back on the market for an MP3 player. Unless there is something else out there that can match the features I've grown accustomed to (Does it have a big screen? Is the GUI nice to look at? Is it clean and uncomplicated? Can I view video and photos? Can it have custom backgrounds? Is it a really faaaabulous shade of pink?), I fear that I might have to buy another Zune.

It feels kinda wrong, yah know? Usually when my MP3 player goes wonky I use it as an excuse to try another brand. Damn the Zune for being so "right".

I'm also pretty pissed that they've only put out the fancy new 80gig version in black. And not even the neat cyber black/blue of the 30gig.
80 gigs is overkill anyway.

So, the question to you guys: is there anything else out there worth looking at?

Most of the stuff in that brand looked sort of ugly and cluttered.

Looks like another Zune for me then. Thanks for the suggestion anyway Smile

Really good, imo. But then, I don't care much about extra features and what not. It might not be the best portable media player out there, but the design of the device and it's gui really works for me. Simplicity, man. That's what it's about.

Hrhm. I'd be tempted to get one of the smaller v2 ones, but they've only got 8gig and a tiddly screen.
