I will always remember the Christmas my Dad bought us our C64 and being blown away by how advanced it seemed and how it also must have cost my Dad a fortune at the time. We had loads of tapes with it and I was instantly addicted to Green Beret and Spy Hunter. Later came Paperboy and Ghosts 'n' Goblins. Agreed also that if anyone thinks loading times today take forever you clearly didn't own a C64 or ZX Spectrum and you were either of one camp or the other in school. When you were so used to standing next to arcade machines having something like this at home was pretty much revolutionary.

I was in the Speccy camp personally, but I went straight from that to an Amiga 600, which really was an immense upgrade at the time.

All my mates had Speccys apart from one who had a C64. We shunned him.

C64 was the worst, but also the best. Was my first system as well. I really wish I had had the space to keep all the tapes my parents were storing in their loft, but when they downsized I just had nowhere to store them all. Shame really as it was quite a collection.

So what you are saying is that you are to blame for Alan Sugar?

Same! Although our Amiga was the 500, which we eventually bought an extension to that gave it a whole 1mb RAM! :o

Yeah, I remember drooling over a friend's Amiga 500 in the year or so before I got my 600 (which came with 1MB as standard).

In hindsight I was way too obsessive about it. My whole damn world revolved around that machine during my early teenage years.

I can remember when we first got the A500, my dad inviting his friends over just to watch the Shadow of the Beast 2 intro. After the Speccy, it literally blew all our minds.
