Getting increasingly into Veep the more I watch it... partly familiarity with the characters, but I think it's also unquestionably getting better as well. Finished the second season last night and tellingly was disappointed I didn't have the third to hand to dive into straight away.
I got a bit behind, but just finished watching the latest season of Halt and Catch Fire - highly recommended - i still love this show!
Also watched the first episode of a French series - Le Bureau des Legendes / The Bureau - bit of a slow start, but it has some promise i think. I'll add another comment after i've watched a few more episodes.
Almost finished this. It is really very good. It reminds me a lot of the video game Dishonored (maybe because I just finished it) and I do like the fact the East India Company are the baddies. One of Tom Hardy's best roles.
I watched the first season of this on Netflix. It's Syfy Channels answer to The Walking Dead I suppose but with a much smaller budget. I actually really enjoyed it, it's no where near as dour as TWD and the characters are likeable. The acting is iffy in places and the cgi is basic but the zombies themselves are well done and all practical effects (some great novelty OTT kills in it). It doesn't take itself seriously and knows its dumb, which is half the appeal. If you can make it through the first few crap episodes it's worth a look.
(Being discovered by a stalking zombie after one of your group let's a nervous fart go was never in TWD )
Anyone with Prime might want to check out Oasis. It's only a pilot episode but it's pretty damned good. It's set near future in a similar vein to Interstellar it even has that amazing organ space music thing going on. It's got a slightly British drama feel to it BUT it's also kinda cool in the way that say Westworld is. Mark Addy is in it also. I felt it was well worth 59 minutes of my time.
At first I completely dismissed it due to McG and Shane Black being involved but after episode 3 I admit it's slowly...very slowly starting to grow on me. My biggest issue has to be Damon Wayans being completely miscast in the role of Roger Murtaugh and the fact there's little to no chemistry between both him and Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs (yet, still early days I guess) who I have to admit is becoming an alternative universe version of Riggs I actually do like. Dodgy 70's porn moustache and all. Wayan's just doesn't cut it as a middle aged ready to retire and leave all that shit behind him partner for Riggs. Also Riggs has yet to don his iconic baseball cap when he really, truly wants to make someone pay but again - early days still.
It's really where the show goes as it pans out that intrigues me and keeps me watching, will Leo Getz be involved? Will the daughter of Murtaugh end up doing condom ads? Will it touch on South African kugerrands? Who knows. I like it just enough to continue watching and it doesn't hurt that Kath and I watch it together as we are both massive fans of the movies and don't yet feel it is doing them a complete injustice.
