Seems harsh, they could probably just replace him.

Do you mean it seems harsh to can him after one series?

No... just the implied capital punishment ;)

I never appreciated how subtle Top Gear's humour used to be until they wheeled Chris Evans out in a hospital bed.

I mildly enjoyed this week's, but there is no chemistry between the presenters which I think is the sparkle that is missing.

If I stop thinking of it as Top Gear and just as a car show, it is easy enough to get along with.

I think they have missed a trick in trying to retain so much of the format though, it keeps the ghosts of the old show strong and prevents the new presenters really putting their own stamp on it.

Evans is an odd one. I listen to him on my commute to work each day and enjoy the show, but as soon as I can see him he just rubs me up the wrong way.

Last weeks was probably the best so far, I think the two new people they had doing the reviews were good. The chemistry may come over time, the original Top Gear also had similar issues at the start.

This week was the best episode so far because it had the least amount of Chris Evans in it. The star in a reasonably priced car thing is still terrible, I don't know why they bother with the best car thing when a lot of the guests don't have any interest. Clarkson eventually learned not to do that and he isn't the greatest interviewer ever.

I know plenty suspected it, but there's some confirmation that Evans and LeBlanc don't like working together.

I think one of them will go, unfortunately the BBC are stupid enough that they'll keep Chris Evans.

I caught an episode the other day and sort of enjoyed it. Evans absolutely does my head in though, he's just a dick but without any of the charm that made Clarkson even slightly likable. I'd much rather LeBlanc stayed on, he's got a chilled out vibe that's quite enjoyable to watch. I like Rory Reid's sections too, he's a good presenter.

It seems to me that the producers are using Le Blanc a lot more for the studio bits. He is the one talking to the other presenters after their films rather than Evans, which I think is a good move.

Yeah I much prefer LeBlanc's drier delivery than Evan's... noise.

There's just no believable banter between them unlike the original lot. You could tell little of the old bunch was scripted whereas with this both presenters seem very scripted at times.

The guy that did the trip to Geneva overnight seemed good though.

I'm pretty sure the old show was heavily scripted, they just had enough chemistry that they made it look very natural. As the years went on and I lost interest in the show it was pretty apparent that a lot of it was scripted as hell.

For the segues and the "challenges" were planned, but I think a lot of the stuff over the news and during the challenges was relatively off the cuff.

They were just grumpy old men...with Hammond. And it just bloody worked.
