It was just a port of a Wii U game, Pokken Tournament DX.

Waste of time.

While this release will surprise nobody, that's a superb collection of games. Most of those are absolute classics.

That's out of left field and a half.

Seems like pre-orders went up and out of stock almost instantly. Price has been pegged at £80, which seems a tad high.

Said I was going to wait until the new Mario. Well, shit. Kingdom Battle sure seems like a new Mario to me!

Now that the system has more than one game I want to play on it, seemed like a good time to get on the Switch train again. Toot Toot!

I was thinking about buying one the other day, but there still aren't any games that I care about other than Zelda.

So I bought a 2DS XL instead. -_-

I'm excited to get back to Zelda, but Splatoon 2, Mario Kart and the upcoming Mario Odysee have me thinking that it'll have enough games to keep me going for a while.

Also, Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle is shaping up good, as I had hoped. It's the mechanics of XCOM with the moment and puzzle battles of Disgaea, all wrapped up in charming Nintendo presentation and Gallic humour. And the Grant Kirkhope soundtrack is just
Still in gentle tutorial mode, but I can see potential for things to get tricky.

Kingdom Battle is a lot of fun. In some respects it is a little basic, but I hear the challenge ramps up a bit in world 2.

I can't buy a Switch. I just can't. I wont. I'm still reeling from the Wii U.

Please dont make me buy a Switch. Its the one time in my life that I'm actually hoping that Mario is shit.

The Switch is miles better than the Wii U, being able to take the console out and about and then come home and play the same game has been a revelation.

That's a complete non-plus for me. Never, when I travel anywhere for work or pleasure, do I sit and think "Man, I really wish I had a full feature console right now". If I really want to play games I have handheld devices, or even my phone if I'm really bored, but the actual times where I feel the need to play anything are pretty slim anyway. I take my Vita with me when I stay away with work but I think it actually gets used maybe one time in every ten trips.

I really do not get the obsession with portability.

Wow! A fellow Vita lover. Preach it sister!

For what its worth I love my Wii U. Its just that I cant justify getting a Switch for so few games when I already went through similar mental gymnastics for the Wii U.

If I stick my fingers in my ears deep enough around Mario time I may just be able to hold out long enough til they either redesign it or make it much cheaper.

It's the versatility I like; it's not tied to the TV, but that doesn't mean I want to take it out of the house. I can use it while my partner watches something on TV, I can use it in bed, I can take it upstairs and use it in the study without having to faff with cables, but when I'm not doing these things I have exactly the same controls, save games and software library with a 42inch display at 1080p. As much as I liked the Vita, it's that last bit that is the game changer for me - there's a reason my Vita became nothing but a Lumines machine, and that's because it was one of the few styles of game I enjoy that doesn't work better on a larger screen.

I now see the Switch as a handheld console I can dock to my TV, rather than the other way around. My post-Zelda use of it has been about 80%/20% handheld/TV, and even during my many hours of Zeldaing it was about 50/50. Mario Kingdoms is fun, if a bit basic when compared to XCOM, and I've also got I am Setsuna which I haven't played yet. I also played Lego City Undercover a couple of months ago which was great.
