Final Fantasy Type-0 remake and Final Fantasy 15

Thought we had a topic for the latter but.. hey.

So the Type-0 remake is out in 3 days - Anyone else interested? I've pre-ordered because I'm a compulsive goon but it does look like a very fun game, very different to the usual FF gameplay but hopefully better than the auto-control of FF13.

Also, it comes with a demo of FF15, which features this:

Anyone else excited?

It's weird. I know next to nothing about Type-0, yet had a constant media barrage surrounding the demo for FFXV.
Reminds me of buzz around the Crackdown with Halo 3 beta, only way, way more intense.

To be fair I'm not fussed about the demo, I'll buy it anyway :P But Type-0 sounds like a really interesting game and seeing as I've been on a dark and bloody anime binge (Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul if anyone is interested) it certainly seems to fit that aesthetic. It's on its way to me (the shiny shiny collectors edition with hardback artbook and manga... DON'T JUDGE ME!) so I'll let you know how it plays.

Picked this up yesterday, then got the latest Gamesmaster mag in the post and they slated it.

If anyone is interested I'm streaming this on Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/the_quietman

EDIT: And stopped, did Chapter 1 and will be sticking it on YT if anyone cares to watch.

I like the game, it's VERY different to the other FF games obviously but the setting has really drawn me in. You can tell it was made for the PSP and then prettified and the camera is a complete douche, but I sense it has great potential.

Read the Eurogamer review and figured I'd wait for a PC version on sale some day. A Final Fantasy game with a poor plot and unmemorable antagonists sounds too much like FF13 for me to be really all that excited. Not a huge fan of how much the combat just looks like a cluster fuck either.

Enjoying it so far but not had a lot of time to proper get to grips with it.

No idea what I'm doing with the combat though. Press R1, Hold circle until it tells you to block then press square. Sometimes press circle twice to do a slightly better attack. Then remember to use the party members' techniques and pick one at random.

There is no way I'm using "Wait" either. That did my head in after 5 minutes.

I know I go on about this a bit and you probably all think I'm crazy, but reading the coverage of FFXV really demonstrates how biased the media is when it comes to certain series and studios. Remember the complaints about how having to prepare before fights in the Witcher was bad or annoying, FFXV comes along and does the exact same thing and suddenly it's a really neat idea. Then there is the all white male cast with the only female being shown in promo material being scantly clad, again not a peep about this from the media. It's stuff like this that really makes it hard to trust what people write and say about games such as FFXV and I expect similar bias to be shown towards the Last Guardian this week.

So Square are going to be patching the FFXV story sometime in the future.

Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy XV was able to achieve an amazing accomplishment, shipping 5 million copies worldwide on the release day. I would like to express my gratitude for everyone that has purchased it.

Currently I have heard many players around the world enjoying themselves. Players are pleased to be enjoying this new Final Fantasy, as well as the staff, we are really happy.
We’ve promised before launching the game that Final Fantasy needed to be complete before it was released. We will continue to update and we are planning to provide a more rich gaming experience to all players around the world. As a gratitude for exceeding 5 million copies, I’ve decided to strengthen the update plan considerably beyond the original plan and inform you of a concrete road map.

These are updates to make the Final Fantasy XV gaming experience more rich, and for longer playability, updates based on requests from players after the release, and in addition to DLC development reported previously. They will be given for free for the short term, mid-term, and long-term.

Final Fantasy XV Update Roadmap

Short-term goals
First, we will update the experience of Chapter 13’s gameplay. For that reason, we are undertaking many enhancements such as increasing the power of the ring’s magic. We will inform you of the details of updated content at a later time.

Mid-term goals
Updating the production of the second half of the game, further enhancing the experience of the story. For example, we are planning to add event scenes where “What happened to Ravus?” was from. In addition to the event scenes, voice responses and localization work to all languages will occur so we will work firmly on this as a mid-term goal. Details of the plan will be announced once it’s decided.

Long-term goals
We will make it possible to use important characters that appeared in the main game as playable characters. We will also consider adding an avatar system to create original characters. In addition to this, we will continue to actively update so that various players can enjoy Final Fantasy XV for a long time.

Others
After clearing the game, you can carry your progress into a New Game. Finishing it at a low level, an invincible suit, we will offer various items that extend the range of play. Fonts displayed can be enlarged for easier reading.
For the already announced DLC, it is planned to be released as originally intended.

FFXV Holiday Pack
FFXV Booster Pack
FFXV Episode Gladiolus
FFXV Episode Ignis
FFXV Episode Prompto
FFXV Online Expansion Pack: Companion

On behalf of the staff and all players around the world, we hope you will enjoy Final Fantasy XV even more. Thank you for your continued support for Final Fantasy XV and the Final Fantasy series.

FFXV Director Hajime Tabata

This is a pretty unprecedented step. Yeah we have had the Mass Effect 3 stuff, but this sounds like they are putting stuff in that was just plain missing.

Well I've played a few hours of it and I'm really enjoying how chilled out the vibe is. Cruising around in the car doing bits and pieces is pretty cool. Hunting the behemoth was definitely a highlight in terms of spectacle and I'm sure there is more to come. It's a bit odd that the major catalyst for the story revolves around the Kingsglaive Blu-ray but thankfully my day one version came with it, so hopefully I'll give that a watch this weekend :D

From the fact that they're patching in so much missing story content and that a lot of the explanations for the premise are in the movie, you can tell how much they struggled to finally get this game out of the gate. You can tell it was probably written and re-written so many different times.

I'm thinking about picking it up ready for my time off over Christmas but still can't decide whether I want to put myself through it. It looks a lot like they countered the criticisms of 13 being essentially a straight line for 20+ hours by turning this one into a pseudo-MMO, which I'm not 100% keen on either but am far more willing to put up with providing it's fairly engaging.

Story and characters in these games are so important to me. Am I going to actually enjoy this?

Most reviews say the story is not that great and the characters appear to be the kind you either love of loathe. I think if those are the things you are after you might want to give it a skip.

I really enjoy the interplay between the four guys on their travels, and I like the world building they're doing at the start. I guess I'm not far enough in to see whether the story holds up but I'm kinda enjoying it for what it is?
