Poor old Guillermo del Toro. He has the worst luck with making video games.

UPDATE 27/04/2015: Konami has sent us over a brief Q&A on the likely Silent Hills cancellation.

In it the Japanese company says it will continue to develop the Silent Hill series, but it fails to deny Silent Hills, specifically, has been cancelled.

There's also reference to an image of Norman Reedus which supposedly disappeared from the official Silent Hills website. But as far as we can tell the image of the actor is still up. Perhaps it will be removed later today.

Here's the Q&A, for what it's worth:

Why has the image of Norman Reedus disappeared from the official website?
This is because our contract period with him has expired.

Why is "P.T." no longer available on Playstation Network?
Because the distribution period has expired.

What will happen with regard to "SILENT HILL"?
Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. will continue to develop the "SILENT HILL" series.

What will happen with regard to "P.T."?
P.T. was purely created to be a playable teaser for "SILENT HILL."

What do you mean by "playable teaser"?
The playable teaser was a trial edition of "SILENT HILLS" intended to give players an idea of the game concept.

Konami official confirm the cancellation of the Del Torro game.

"Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic 'Silent Hills' project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued,"

Seriously bad news. P.T was one of the only horror games I've ever tried that absolutely nailed the creepy atmosphere above all else. I wonder what went on between Kojima and Konami to make them distance themselves from him so much.

It will be more than that I would have thought. If it was just that he would have just left the company. The way they have tried to expunge his name from the series says to me something a bit more serious went down.

He also banged Konamis wife.

They have now been delisted from the stock exchange now too  Well it seems that perhaps their casino stuff isnt enough to keep them going. I'm kind of worried as to who picks up their IPs in the inevitable firesale. This has been inevitable though.

It's all about the gyms man.

EDIT: It is just the New York Stock Exchange, they are still listed in London and Japan where apparently most of their business takes place. It was done for cost purposes apparently.

Apparently they have moved into property in a big way. In March 2014 they said they had spent 26m Yen in Investment spending which is basically property.

Demo is now all gone folks. If you didn't re-download it already you can't any more, it's been totally removed from PSN...
