Horizon: Zero Dawn is getting some very impressive reviews, but upon reading them it sounds like it is just like every other open world game, it even has it's own version of Batman Vision. Eurogamer seem to be the only place that was bothered by the unoriginality.

EDIT: After Witcher 3 I think I'm just less willing to give this open world stuff a pass and it has me worried that I'm not going to get on with Zelda.

EDIT 2: I'm getting strong DA:I vibes off this game in that it was highly praised at the time, but was actually a very dull and average game.

I just hope it's not another shitty map janitor game ala FarCry, the systems look neat.

Had it not been coming out the week of the Switch and BotW, I'd definitely be considering this. I love the overall style of it.

Sounds like it could be. This is taken from the Destructoid review.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a fascinating premise wrapped in a tortilla of tropes. It has detective vision, radio towers, skill trees, masked load screens (Tony Hawk's American Wasteland gets no credit for popularizing this in 2005, by the way), and a world map littered with billions of points of interest -- all stuff you've seen before.

This game seems to be doing a lot of the stuff that AC games in the past have been criticised for, but isn't getting criticised in anywhere near the same way.

‘Horizon: Zero Dawn' is ‘The Witcher 3’ for the ‘Avatar’ Generation

So The Witcher 3 for idiots?

Sounds to me like Eurogamer's review cynicism is well placed. The traditional reviewer sites always go all out with high scores for big new IPs. This looks like they created an interesting world but had no idea how to make the gameplay unique or innovative, so largely it's a by the numbers open world game. Fine for people who enjoy that if it's competent all round, not so fine for people who are burned out on the same game mechanics being present in every single big release.

Could be something I pick up in a couple of years on the cheap but definitely no sooner.

Yakuza 0 is £30 in the Easter sale on PSN. I highly recommend it.

Pretty impressive. Nvidia Gamestream homebrew port to Vita. In other words, stream PC games to Vita.

Switch?

If anyone is prone to a little Crash Bandicoot I'll just go ahead and say that the remaster is absolutely brilliant.

It's also the biggest single platform launch of the year! Even managed to beat Horizon. Well deserved though, it's reasonably priced, a classic platformer and they've done a fantastic job on making it look good without compromising any of the gameplay. Well worth the £28.

PS Plus is going up by £10 to £50 a year. Pretty big price increase and considering the terrible download speeds and lacklustre selection of PS Plus games it's a big ask. You can still grab year subs from CD Keys for £34 so you might want to stock up on those if you want to avoid paying the new price for a few years.
