Metal Gear?!

I'm up for giving this a shot. Just need to play Peace Walker first.

Polygon sounds like a fair review to me. I got more play time out of the original Metal Gear Solid demo on PsOne than this seems to be offering up.

Eurogamer complete MGS in 5 minutes.

Personally the game would have to be one of the best games ever to be worth £25 for around 2 hours of play and it sounds like Polygon are the only people to have taken the price and shortness of the game into consideration. Hardly edgy, more like honest. Don't tell me that if you didn't know about the length that after seeing 8s and 9s you wouldn't be disappointed to get MGS home and complete it in a few hours.

But should the price:length ratio be part of a review consideration? This is an extreme example no doubt, but there are so many different lengths of games and often it has no bearing on the price. Value for money is a difficult thing to assess. People should be warned though, and if they're not going to explain the short length on the box then I guess some reviewers have to do it.

I think it should only be considered when the length actually has a notable effect on your perception of the game. It'd be a rare enough exception, but 2 hours for an almost full price release isn't really acceptable even if the rest of the game is pretty solid.

Probably the

Spoiler: show
bit near the end where they're literally rummaging around inside a girl's intestines trying to find a surgically implanted bomb. The graphics are a bit gruesome, but the screams make it even more traumatising.

So I got it because I'm weak. No matter how mych I convinced myself I'll get it with Phantom Pain or when it's on sale, as soon as I saw it on PSN, I had to.

Graphically, it's bloody gorgeous. Coupled with the fact that it runs at 60 frames per second, it feels a small justification for these here new consoles. A little. Maybe.

Gameplay wise, it feels nice. Snake moves really fuidly and the animations blend and tween so well. Gunplay is pretty standard. Question: Can you go to first person when you aim ala MGS2/3/4? I just like having that option.

Been playing it on the Vita and using the touch pad for the binoculars is a nightmare.

Although I do really like it, I just can't get past the fact Kiefer Sutherland is doing the voice. I just don't like his version of Snake. There is just no reason for him to do the voice. I mean, it 's just Kiefer. Do the fucking "Snake" voice at least! The bullshit answer Kojima provide in that it's an older Snake or whatever is stupid.

Apart from that niggle, it's great.

I was very tempted as well but I'm hoping that Infamous will sate my need for shiny next-gen graphics for a bit.
IMO :P  :P  :P
