I just hope that they give it some strong links with the Wii U, whether that's backwards compatibility with all the games or something else. It feels like such a drag to have jumped back onto the Nintendo hardware wagon on the generation that failed and was all but forgotten.

I haven't turned my Wii U on in months so I don't know how their new account system works, but it'd be nice to be able to set one up on the Wii U and sync it with the NX so that I don't lose my games and Mario Kart DLC off the store (if Mario Kart 8 was cross-platform).

Either way, I'll be holding fire on any new console for at least a year just to make sure it doesn't go the same way as the last one.

Yesterdays Nintendo Direct.

Headlines are as follows:

-Star Fox release date of 22nd April, comes bundled with Project Guard which has been renamed Star Fox Guard.
-Paper Mario Colour Splash announced for Wii U coming 2016.
-New weapons for Splatoon coming this month.
-SNES games coming to New 3DS.
-Fire Emblem Fates coming 20th May.
-New Kirby game on 3DS called Kirby Robobo Planet, also four new Kirby amiibos.
-Monster Hunter Generations coming to 3DS this summer.
-F2P Wii U game Lost Reavers, previously Project Treasure, going into open beta April 14th, release on the 28th.
-Shin Megami Tensei crossover with Fire Emblem renamed Tokyo Mirage Session #FE coming 24th June.

There were a few other titles for 3DS and some Pokemon fighting game announced, so a fair few games between now and the summer. Not really sure what they have lined up for the end of the year, but that's probably being freed up for the NX launch.

New stuff coming to Mario Maker next week too.

Spike pillars, pink coins and key doors as well as adding a super expert mode to the 100-Mario Challenge, along with 12 new Mystery Mushroom costumes. Woooo. :D

Allegedly a prototype NX controller....

Its a very interesting concept. Shit, but interesting all the same. If it has at least 6 shoulder/rear buttons it could work but then, how much is that thing going to cost to get a second one? Cant be much under £100 if even that low.

Then theres also the question..... is that the portable part of it? If so it really doesnt look all that durable. On the plus side, it would allow WiiU backwards compatibility. This is going to be a fucking weird E3!

If the system really is going to be portable and a home console then I can see them releasing an additional controller alongside this, something similar to the Pro Controller. There are some buttons on the front it appears.

The B below the right stick? Virtual button I think.

With enough real rear buttons I could put up with virtual buttons for inventory etc.. so long as you get the important stuff like jump/aim/shoot/dodge/reload/attack on real buttons its fine.

That's both ugly and really uncomfortable looking.

Maaaan, Ive not fucked with Dolphin in ages and holllllly shit is it impressive now. Not that it wasnt but wow, one of the best emulators Ive ever seen.

So you can play at 1080p and it looks like this....

Then with oversampling and per pixel lighting it looks like this....

Then as if that wasnt enough it supports ultrawide better than most games!

Yeah it stretches the UI a bit but man thats phenomenal work those guys have done! Jaw droppingly good!
