Is it the price putting people off? If it were £200, would you be tempted? Also, are these the official RRPs, or have the retailers just guessed?

Personally I wouldn't bother even at £200, there just isn't enough on offer yet.

I predict this will be the worst selling Nintendo console ever. Gamers won't want it after being burned by the Wii and the casual audience will still be perfectly happy with the Wii they've already got. I'm just not sure who it's for.

Nintendo are going to lose money big time. I admire their almost childlike delight at games that arent all big bros shooting arabs but its the first 1080p console, they shouldn't be going after family with yet another generation of dance and keep fit titles, but going after xbox and ps3 users directly. Those who want an upgrade in fidelity from their now aging systems by showing off something massive like bf3 and highlighting how much better visually and how larger the battles can be with a fuck ton of extras to get excited about is a prime market. Why would the same people who bought all that crap last time for the wii want to do it twice? Besides its arguable that the casual market has all but moved on to tablets and mobile, the family unit from the e3 conference sitting around a telly looking at photos or having a problem with who watches telly and who plays games feels covered already.

Plus the Wii U Pro Controller which steers so close to fraudulent with the xbox controller that I think the only difference is the position of the analog sticks is a practical admission (if any was needed) that the screen on the default controller is useless for most games. Batman Arkham city where its used as a inventory screen isnt going to change anyone's minds.
Will debase self for credits.

But let's be clear cut here if there was one thing that was highly nay hugely anticipated at this years E3 it was the Wii U. Ninty's new shining white knight of a console that would finally make us forget the casual cesspit the Wii was before it. Better hardware was promised. More 3rd party support. An open invitation to the core gamers that had long since left the Nintendo brand collecting dust. We wanted Nintendo to sell it to us so hard we couldn't sit down again for a week.

The realisation being of course that they massively failed to do so and both core gamers and casual gamers alike came away feeling baffled as to just who the console was aimed at and why. Granny isn't going to pick up Johnny a Wii U for Christmas when she can just pick up a batch of new Wii games, new Kinect games or whatever it is that's the latest hot preorder is on consoles ie Halo 4. Even if Johnny tried to convince granny via youtube just why he wants a Wii U I sense only a look of confusion on her face compared to the simplicity of the Wii's "you swing it and it does it on screen gran" approach. "So what does the Wii U do that the Wii doesn't again?" she asks nervously. Johnny feels a bit stuck.

So yeah to say Nintendo dropped the ball at this years E3 with no spec announcement and no pricing then still expected us to rush out and buy it because they added some on screen visual tricks to an almost but not quite 1 year old Batman game...I dunno. Nintendo failed more this year than any other mainly because they had something that held so much promise in the palm of their hands literally and proceeded to completely shit it down the toilet as we all watched in horror/mass disappoint/cue self face palms in unison across the globe.

Negativity. Justified.

Boggy's preorder? Mystified. Can't say I won't be interested in your findings once you get hold of one though BB.
