Its kinda pointless unless you want a boost in speed for certain games.
I saw the arcade version of Super Hang On compared to the MD version and the MD version is twice as slow. The overclock should restore the original Arcade speed on the MD version.

Oh and garbled visuals could be caused by dirty contacts on the cart slot. Give it a good clean, see if that works.

Are the games made for such shenanigans? It's not just like playing them in fast forward?

Man, I might look into that, if only to see if Zero Tolerance can be made smoother.

Yah, some of the shooters can be made to run smoother.
I used this guy's guide to work in the 10Mhz oscillator

The LED mod is optional. You don't need to add another wire plus resistor to the 5v line, and you can just work with a single pole double throw switch.

The Giantbombcast address this exact question last week. They recommended stuff like Sword of Vermillion, Thunderforce 2 and 3 and E Swat.

Well I busted my MD. Looks like i'm off scouring for another cheap replacement. In hindsight its best to just stick with the 50\60 Hz switch, the Japanese\English language switch is pretty much a novelty.

Aw nuts. Sounded like a fun little project, though. :)

I've played Sword of Vermillion before and I'm not sure it's the kind of game I'm after on cart.
Perhaps this is a faux pas on my part, but I prefer old console RPGs on handhelds. Like, at the moment, I'm currently playing Phantasy Star emulated on the PSP each night. Grinding levels during the day feels like a waste of time. Grinding levels in bed is meditative. :P

Considering this, I'm tempted to see what sort of money I can get for Shining Force 2. :-k

Side and vertical scrolling shooters, I'm not a fan, but E SWAT is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Right-o

Streamlining my Mega Drive collection. I don't really want a load of games I don't play or like hanging about.
Is eBay is still the best bet for shifting old MD games? :-k

Anyway, here's the list, if you guys want first pick:

California Games
Mortal Kombat 3
F1
Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament
Starflight
Empire of Steel
Shining Force 2
Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim 2
Sub Terainia
Dynamite Headdy
General Chaos

Oh man, I used to have Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament. Mad nostalgia feels for that entire franchise, pity it died on its arse during the ps2 era.

Awesome.

You wouldn't happen to have anything you'd be willing to trade? PC or Mega Drive, I'm easy either way.
Otherwise, how'd 8 quid in Amazon vouchers sound?

Either way, hit me with a note if you're still interested and we shall negotiate. :-k

Will be putting the rest of those up on eBay soon, so last chance to make offers on them.

Also, I came to the realization that the later era blue covers are horrendous. Ugly mid-nineties crap, even at the time.
My nostalgia is in those those black and grey grids. Now that's awesome!
