Honestly that timing is one of the things that pissed me off most about the burglary; 8 bloody months I've been waiting for the Switch release of Gungeon and I lose the console just a few days before the release.

Maybe worth mentioning here; the police asked me to report the thefts of both the PS4 and the Switch to their respective manufacturers. Despite the police guy saying he'd retrieved stolen PS4s in this way before (Sony track the IP address when the machine tries to access the online service and the police have access to this info), the guy from Sony was absolutely no help whatsoever and basically told me there was nothing I could do. All Nintendo could do was remove access to my account from the console the next time it connects to the Internet, and the guy suggested the police contact Nintendo themselves.

Would you guys say that there are now enough decent games to make getting a switch worth it? Mario Odyssey, Zelda and Mario Kart have so far caught my eye.

In my opinion the Switch is worth getting for Mario and Zelda alone. I think along with stuff like Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Mario and Rabbids plus some excellent indie titles there is easily enough stuff out there.

Nintendo have put up a mini-Direct.

Highlights:

A new Mario Tennis game with story components which look a lot like Virtua Tennis.
New DLC for Mario Odyssey and Mario & Rabbids.
DK Tropical Freeze is coming to Switch.
Hyrule Warriors coming to Switch.
Dark Souls Remastered.

Looks like we will be seeing most first party Wii U titles coming to Switch. Next up, Captain Toad?

Celeste looks like a nice little brutally difficult platformer. There's not much else there for me.

The World Ends With You is a pretty great addition too.

I had a chance to play on a friends Switch the other day and I'm definitely dangerously close to buying one now. There are so many great indie games and they don't seem to be relenting with the announcements either, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is one I've always wanted to play but never got around to buying on Wii U. Project Octopath will be out soon too, which is probably the most exciting title they've got in the works at the minute.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about Tropical Freeze, was one that passed me by on the Wii U.

Mario Tennis does look good, but it's not really a genre I get excited about.

Yeah, Octopath Traveller looks great, but I'm not expecting it until much later in the year, if not 2019.

Tropical Freeze is a great game. Hard as balls, but mostly excellent. Hope it manages to find a bigger audience on the Switch. It deserves it.

Nintendo announced this yesterday and it is very Nintendo.

My biggest concern is how the cardboard will stand up to repeated use, but other than that I think it is a really neat idea.

Yeah, they don't strike me as being long lasting peripherals, more as a craft project for a weekend that the kids can then play basic games with. I'm clearly not the demographic for it, but I can appreciate the ingenuity, particularly when it comes to joycon implementation. The piano for example seems to use the gesture camera on the bottom of the right joycon to track which keys are being pressed.

Caved in and bought a Switch the other day.

Man this thing is sleek, and Zelda is just a pure work of art.
