I am also afflicted with the xmas lurgy, which has been a guest for over a week now and overstaying it's welcome like an incontinent in-law.

Regardless, merry xmas one and all, have a good one and a happy new year.

C'mon, you can't say that and not elaborate.

Just a family holiday to Lapland, nothing covert. It is quite lovely out here, would be better without the kids though. I'm in it for the snowmobiling and husky mushing.

When I was young they were the highlight of any Christmas viewing schedule. Streets and pubs would be just about deserted when they were on.

Bah. Humbug.

I remember when Christmas was a reasonably relaxing time. A chance to forget about work and lose myself in a game for a few days. Now it's all about overly excited children jumping about the place, and having to watch what I drink so I can ferry people about.

God no, not me. My sister has two and my mum has always wanted a family holiday to Lapland but didn't have the money for it when we were small, so we're all going now for my little nephews. They met Santa and did the whole reindeer thing. It's pretty well put together.

It's been alright. Amazing country, family packages seem a bit overpriced for what you get. I think a proper extreme adult excursion with snowmobile safaris and hiking with snowshoes would be utterly fantastic. But obviously you couldn't take kids on that.

Honestly if you want that sort of thing head to Canada sometime Mantis. Anywhere in the Banff - Jasper areas. Cheap as chips to get packages, even cheaper if you just head over and jack them up locally. The best looking mountain scenery I've ever been to AND it's low season out there in winter if you can believe it unlike Europe or Scandinavia. You'll literally have the mountains to yourself and a scattering of others.
