Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2016

Postby Nethlyn » Wed Nov 16, 2016 8:12 pm

Last year's fun and games was here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31063

Otherwise Amazon kicked things off a week later than 2015, starting yesterday. Am not killing myself checking the site every day when I know the one gift I'm buying and I'm not going mad. Right now even if the same Blu Ray as last year dropped in price it would need to go below half-price before I'd even think about it (it's normally 20 quid).

Also like last year am looking to see if there are decent deals on services and not just stuff like Antivirus and other services, and Sainsbury have done their winter double-up at the same time https://livewellforless.sainsburys.co.u ... double-up/ - so it's a toss up if your saved points go twice as far up until closing time on the 22nd vs. taking a chance that they'll bother with any proper Black Friday promos at the end of the month.

I've pretty much run out of stuff that I could ever possibly want to buy.

Wait till you have kids, then you'll be buying all sorts of shit you never knew you wanted and in fact were right all along.

I have been checking the Amazon sale regularly, at least the electronics and games categories. It's all rubbish; the electronics deals are all dodgy-looking USB power banks and other brand-less tat with artificially raised review scores based on "fair and honest" reviews from people who allegedly received the product for free (a practice that is increasingly making Amazon a pain to shop on). I've been looking for decent console deals, and what Amazon is offering is no cheaper than anywhere else.

They'll generally be tat until the actual day I've found.

Yeah this years Black Friday Amazon stuff has been very underwhelming, in years gone by there was a decent amount of stuff in the week before.

Bit irritated actually. This time last year I was in need of a new tablet at a reasonable price (wife was buying it for xmas for me) after some reading around I settled on a Linx 1010. Reviews were all solid. Shame the thing itself wasn't. Screen rotate stopped working and recently it just doesn't hold a charge despite shutting it down properly when I switch it back on its drained. I hate the in screen keyboard also.

So irritated but glad I got this surface pro which is what I wanted last year. Don't think missus would have stretched to that though so I've sneaked this one through myself. Socks and shirts as standard for me this year now :)

So Amazon have decided to present all their deals in a grid, even the timed ones, meaning that easily seeing what was coming up and what is on sale RIGHT NOW is so much more difficult.

Fucking Amazon, love the site but god their design is awful.

Now I remember why I wasn't fussed about buying stuff off Amazon last year either, their fucking god awful delivery service. I seriously hate it. Figured I'd get a present for Xmas on the cheap this year, big mistake, now I'm stuck in that stupid song and dance trying to actually get the thing delivered to my flat. I don't have a post box, shared living area or any other such place to leave the package. You need to be buzzed in by the person you're delivering for to actually get to my front door. Half the time they don't even ring the bloody buzzer anyway. Why can't you just be like a normal fucking postal service and leave the damn thing at the post office!? The re-delivery options on the site are so stupidly unhelpful. They've tried two days running to deliver now and failed and they're planning on trying again tomorrow, but I won't be in, and so the circle of hell continues.

Fuck Amazon, dude.

Amazon Logistics are arguably worse than Yodel. For a start they deliver anywhere between 9am and 9pm, meaning if you try to deliver something to an office then there's no guarantee it will arrive in office hours. They also have a habit of not posting anything through a letterbox even if it will fit. I complained about this to Amazon after the third or fourth time they left a blu-ray order with a neighbor (once with a house number on the note that didn't exist, so I had to try several houses). Their response was to tell me to put "post through the letterbox" on the first line of my delivery address. :?

They also left a parcel in the wheelie bin once. Lucky it wasn't bin day.

Yeah they are a pile of wank. I get most stuffed delivered to work and thankfully they seem to use Royal Mail more often than not.
