Yeah I don't get why trump is on side with the Erdogan power grab when all the international monitors have said it's on very shaky ground. Clearly the US like this sort of thing plonked on the border between Asia and Europe.

Yeah I can't think of a single reason why.

Both, I'd guess.

Donald Trump has indicated he will scrap plans to find cash for his border wall in this week's spending bill.

Trump: We're gonna build a BIG BEAUTIFUL WALL! And Mexico's gonna pay for it!
Mexico: No we're not.
Trump: Shit. Can we afford to pay for it?
US: Nope.

Inevitability hurts, I guess. On the other hand it shows that you can promise anything to get elected and certain people will accept it without question. The candidates at the next election should vow to colonise the Moon for America and make Canada pay for it.

His plan to punish cities that take in immigrants also got blocked, he's really finding out the hard way that he has very little power.

I also think he didn't order that MOAB airstrike in Afghanistan, one of the general's just went ahead and did it on his own initiative and Trump found out the same time as everyone else.

There was a skint in the Steve Cobart show that estimated the 3K mile wall will cost around $2T

The US economy is $18T

So even if they start today - over 4 years that is 3% of the GDP, about 1ppt less than what the US spends on the entire country social security and just 30% less than the entire US defence budget over Trump's 4 years.

Simply put - its not happening. Not that we expected it would happen anyway unless ofcourse Mexico wants to pay :|

Oh and once you build it, maintenance, observation towers, cameras and ground staff will probably cost a cool $50B - $100B a year. Yeah - right !

30ft wall = 2 trillion dolla

31ft ladder + optional bolt cutter = less than 100 dolla.

The math and logic makes perfect sense to me trumpy lad!

As rubbish as it generally was, there was one quite funny bit in the fourth season of Arrested Development, where he is contracted the build the wall, realises he can't afford to, so builds a very small, circular wall, and films himself driving round and round it to make it look really long

He misses driving, feels as if he is in a cocoon, and is surprised how hard his new job is.

President Donald Trump on Thursday reflected on his first 100 days in office with a wistful look at his life before the White House.

"I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," Trump told Reuters in an interview. "This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier."

More than five months after his victory and two days shy of the 100-day mark of his presidency, the election is still on Trump's mind. Midway through a discussion about Chinese President Xi Jinping, the president paused to hand out copies of what he said were the latest figures from the 2016 electoral map.

"Here, you can take that, that's the final map of the numbers," the Republican president said from his desk in the Oval Office, handing out maps of the United States with areas he won marked in red. "It’s pretty good, right? The red is obviously us."

He had copies for each of the three Reuters reporters in the room.
Poor old Trump, right?

Another one of those "Oh no. What has he said this time?" stories.

Trump blames constitution for chaos of his first 100 days
He blamed the constitutional checks and balances built in to US governance. “It’s a very rough system,” he said. “It’s an archaic system … It’s really a bad thing for the country.”

The one thing the president is meant to hold above all, the constitution.

I laugh because thinking about the insanity that swirls about the odious creep would lead to despair.

Trump's latest scumbaggery is to put national monuments like the Giant Redwood trees in California up for review.

http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/05/cascade_siskiyou_national_monu.html

President Donald Trump ordered the review last month, saying protections imposed by his three immediate predecessors amounted to "a massive federal land grab" that "should never have happened."

He's basically pandering to logging and mining companies that want to exploit the shit out of the land. Even Bush never sank that low.
