Shit. I had no idea about that.
Well, not like much can be done now other than to cross your fingers and hope common sense prevails.

Farage backing the possibility of a second referendum now. I wonder how it would go, no doubt we'd all vote the same way again because we're a country of thickos.

Interesting that he's suggested it though, I wonder if it's simply because he can't stand being out of the limelight and now that Trump hasn't given him a cushy job in the US he's desperate to get some more attention back here. Or perhaps he's realised that in a years time he's going to lose his fat MEP wages and doesn't want to be remembered in British history as one of the most hated men of the century, so he's all up for a second vote to turn things around. Doubtful, either way I'd rather he just crawled into a hole somewhere and nobody ever paid him any attention ever again. He's one of the few people who I wouldn't mind seeing crucified and hung up outside Parliament if things go completely tits up next year.

I think it's almost exclusively about him getting himself back in the news.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen a headline saying that the Government are going to 'outline their Brexit plans', but supposedly we're going to get some confirmation of things next Friday following the talks the cabinet had yesterday. Jeremy Hunt has said today that we won't be a member of the customs union, so that gives a clue as to what they're going to announce. Of course, a week is a long time in politics and they will probably have changed their mind again before next week.

My prediction is that the announcement will involve them refusing membership of the customs union whilst also guaranteeing all the economic benefits of being in it, which the EU will then reject, and so the circle will continue.

I should be surprised that the Secretary of State for Destruction of the NHS is revealing foreign policy goals, but I'm not. What a god damn mess.

Labour to announce backing a continued customs union tomorrow.

Full membership of the single market next, please. At this point it seems pretty unlikely that anyone is going to have the courage to just call this entire thing off, so full single market membership without a seat at the table is pretty much the best thing we could hope for. It wouldn't be so bad though, as it means that the EU could pass all its tax avoidance laws without worrying about British millionaires and land owners blocking them anymore.

This announcement is quite aptly timed, given that Maybot is scheduled to outline the government's rejection of any customs union this coming Friday.

I'm quite interested in how they'll identify which sites need to require age verification.

The typical porn sites are obvious, like pornhub, etc, but what about reddit? There's tons of porn categories on there. But it's not really a porn site, the vast majority go there for regular stuff.

Porn on Reddit tends to be hosted on other sites like Imgur and such. Which one would have to enforce age checks? Both perhaps. In practice it's going to be ridiculous to enforce.

Don't you just love nanny state censorship.

Is it going to be like that face sitting ban, where it only affected porn made in the UK, or is it going to block access to sites based elsewhere?

If I'm reading the article right, it's pretty much block any site that doesn't comply with new UK laws, no matter where they come from.

I can't find an article that really explains the process of blocking a site. I don't think this is like the mature content filter that was forced on ISPs (for exactly the same reason) and it isn't a China style firewall. If someone doesn't comply and isn't UK based do they get put on a list of sites all ISPs must block? That seems like it'd be easy to dodge.

Thought I'd revive this thread a little given that after tomorrow the slow meltdown of the UK Government is likely to shift up a gear.

Brexiter's currently utterly fuming, bandying about words like 'vassal state' and such. And the sad reality is that we are no closer to any form of proper plan being put in place than two years ago when the referendum took place.

The hard right Brexiters can suck a collective cock, they care fuck all about the country, it is all who gets the top spot when they inevitably boot out the drivelling incompetent Edwin May next year.

Fucking nauseating, the whole shitshow. Get our country back? Get royally fucked is the truth of it. There is no win except for those who don't like brown people. Cunts all.

I still just can't get my head around this. Yet to hear a single sensible argument from the Brexiters, and yet they seem to be the ones calling the shots?

Had to stop following the news because it was too frustrating/depressing.
