Now, this won't be of much interest to you, the upstanding, wholesome working men that the Tories love so much, but their plans for a lockdown of the internet seem to be ramping up.

Porn ID checks set to start in April 2018
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40630582

“Age verification risks failure as it attempts to fix a social problem with technology. In their recent manifestos, all three main political parties called for compulsory sex and relationship education in schools. Sex education would genuinely protect young people, as it would give them information and context.”
Jerry Barnett, author of the book Porn Panic! and a free speech campaigner, said: “This law is the culmination of years of lobbying by a wide variety of state and private interests, and will fundamentally change the internet in the UK and possibly globally. For the first time, the government has the power to block websites, en masse, without court orders. This is a first in a democracy.

“Although this appears to be just about protecting children from porn, it isn’t. It will block any site that doesn’t comply with strict UK content rules. Any nude image at all risks being categorised as porn, and the entire site being blocked. Current filtering systems class up to 4m websites as sexual. It’s likely this regime will block the vast majority of these. And doubtless, the censorship regime will then be extended to other crimes against decency.

“Although much attention has been paid to the very dangerous snooper’s charter, this law is at least as dangerous, and has had far less attention.”

Not that any of the fine young men here would ever watch porn. You'd never do something so un-British, un-Christian, would you? [-o<

I for one am looking forward to the plod raiding me the next time I get drunk and decide to call Gary Linekar a "jug eared hypocrite Edwin" on Twitter. You'd think with £2m a year coming in for talking shite about football he'd be able to handle some cheeky banter. Maybe eating all the crisps have given him high blood pressure?

Three more years of this. The whole impeachment thing has gone quiet, despite police raiding his friends for evidence of communications with Russians.

Anyone still keeping up with this shit show? It's entertaining for the moment but not really enough to clear that feeling of dread as we hurtle towards a car crash Brexit.

Retail sales down 37%, car manufacturing down, inflation still rising, stagnating wages never ending, spending power diminishing, £496 billion of foreign assets miscalculated; but worth it for taking back control of course. That is, control in the form of a government front bench which contradicts itself at every turn and seems to be split right down the middle.

The only upside to this whole thing so far has been watching the Tories slowly disintegrating. Not sure it was worth causing a recession over though.

I try to keep up to date, but honestly I find reading about the state of politics in the UK so utterly depressing that I find it difficult (given my own mental state most of the time). Brexit is the worst of it as it just seems like such a colossal waste; I genuinely can't see any upside to it - the tagline for the whole farce was "taking back control", but why would I want to give our current government any more say in how they can fuck us over to line their own pockets?

I just can't handle it these days. It's so bleak that it's not doing my state of mind much good to follow it closely anymore.
It feels like you've a choice. Follow the news and watch the inexorable horror of the boot coming towards your face. Or phase it out and live with a relatively a clear mind, only to be being caught unaware when the heel smashes down upon your forehead.

I still live in hope that it will become such a shitshow that Brexit is cancelled. Continuing with it at this point feels like driving off a cliff because the sat nav says you should.
