The biggest issue I have at the moment is that I live on a building site (it's an unfinished new estate), and as such it's incredibly noisy outside. Every five minutes or so one of those large road sweepers drives past the front of the house. When it's hot enough to necessitate open windows on both sides of the house for a pleasant through-breeze, I can't hear a damned thing from my PC speakers much of the time, unless I turn them up to neighbour-bothering levels.

On the plus side, it's really quite pleasant today; about 7 degrees cooler than it was on sunday.

A friend of mine also lives on a new-build estate which is currently being finished. His house was one of the first. It was great when he first moved in - no neighbours anywhere. Now it's like a damn zoo. He said to me "It'll be so quiet and awesome!", apparently unaware that the site would very quickly become densely populated and shit.

Mensa level IQ, this guy.

(actually - no sarcasm).

Heh, yeah, we knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into, but I wasn't expecting to be spending so much time at home during the week as I have been these last six months.

Sounds like it was quite ill anyway, was on its way to a second vet appointment apparently. The dragging it along and then trying to ditch it was a bit weird, though.

In any case, RSPCA not pressing charges.

Judging by her attire and posture, I'd say she has some mental handicap. Most probably 'care in the community'.

Have you never seen elderly people wearing thick coats even during the height of summer? They can feel cold in any temperature. Dragging the dead dog around could have been shock or denial. It's also possible that the dog's illness was stopping it from drinking much; my mum's cat doesn't like to drink too much, which is something to do with a kidney problem. All of the above are also possible.

I detest "news stories" like this, as all they seem to do is provoke rage. Had it been framed as a reminder that your pets need to drink more in the summer too, it may have been more worthwhile.

Woke this morning to find it pissing down. Thrilled to bits.
What a completely un-British reaction  (especially a Welshman)

It pissed it down all evening yesterday, but it was still muggy and warm. Now it's back to clear skies and being really humid. Pretty uncomfortable to be out in.

I was just hiking around some hill or other in Yorkshire. Dull, and lots of drizzle. Perfect.
