Wrathbone wrote:Yep, that's your spell attack value. Everyone's proficiency bonus is currently 2. Spell attacks are basically when you cast a spell that attacks something (usually one creature), so you roll a d20 and add a modifier. Your spell save DC (difficulty class) is used when you cast a spell where affected creatures have to make a save, like a wisdom save for the charm spell, and the DC is the number the creature has to roll to make the save. So for each of you it will be:

Ellis and Van'Skar: Spell attack is d20 + prof. bonus + charisma modifier; spell DC is 8 + prof. bonus + charisma modifier

Slythe: Spell attack is d20 + prof. bonus + intelligence modifier; spell DC is 8 + prof. bonus + intelligence modifier

Ah man, I can't use my charisma modifier? That's bad... I am charming as hell but dumb as a stump. :(

Next week I would say that Wednesday is out for me, but should be able to make any other night work. Friday might be tricky but not undoable if necessary.

Ah right, cheers. Well I've taken the hint that I should probably be pumping more into my charisma attribute (because apparently Ellis isn't already charming enough), so now my charisma modifier is +3.

Taken minor illusion and invisibility as my new cantrip and spell too.

Yarp. Rogue arcane tricksters use wizard spells, which require intelligence. There are still plenty of spells which don't require spells attacks or a save DC, though - they just work - so it could be worth going with some of those spells.

We've still not picked a day? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday in a pinch still good for me.

Any day is still good for me. Tuesday, unless another day is better for anyone?

I swear I'd posted in here. Tonight is fine for me more or less, I can manage about an hour and a half.

And after you've done that, you'll be free for D&D?

I'll get my new mic working for 8pm, hopefully will come through a lot clearer this time.

Incidentally, for my new spell I took alarm. It's limited utility, but I thought it would help us rest up in hostile zones without worrying about nasty goblinses and bugbears stumbling across our snoring forms.

Finally, finally - does leveling up our ability stats have any affect on either our saving throws or our skill ratings?

Yes, it can do. This is the list of ability scores and their corresponding modifiers:

8-9 = -1
10-11 = +0
12-13 = +1
14-15 = +2
16-17 = +3
18-19 = +4
20 = +5

Those modifiers apply to saving throws, skills and weapon attacks/damage (strength for melee, dexterity for ranged in most cases). Anything you're proficient in you also add your proficiency bonus to (currently +2).

As an example let's say your charisma was previously 15 and now it's 16, and you're proficient in persuasion but not deception. Your previous persuasion and deception skills would have been +4 and +2 respectively. Because your charisma has gone to 16, it's new modifier is +3, so persuasion and deception would now be +5 and +3. Basically, if you've increased an ability score and it's gone to a new modifier, just add 1 to anything that uses that ability score.

If you want to upload your sheet I can check it over.

If you want to check my working, that's cool. A couple of my skills (deception and stealth) have always been higher, can't remember character creation now, but assuming they're either background or racial bonuses or something.

Cheers - looks pretty much correct to me, apart from maybe survival (should be +2, not +3?) and possibly deception and stealth being +8 rather than +6. I think there are some special rogue bonuses which gives them the extra +2 - I'll check tonight.

Mantis - would another night work better? Still waiting to hear from Quietman too.
