"Time spent online 'overtakes TV' among youngsters"

Postby Prey » Wed Jan 27, 2016 9:20 am

The BBC confirms what we all already knew...

Young people are spending more time playing and socialising online than watching television programmes, according to an annual survey tracking children's media behaviour in the UK.

Staff at research agency Childwise described it as a "landmark change".

Among those watching TV, the Netflix on-demand service was more popular than any conventional television channel.

There was also a surge in children's ownership of tablet computers, up by 50% compared with last year.

The annual media monitoring report, based on a sample of more than 2,000 five to 16-year-olds, has been following children's viewing behaviour since the mid-1990s.

On youtube you have that much stuff on it you can find stuff that interests you which would never get on TV eVoL. I don't see adverts on it either through adblockers either

I love purely geeky tech stuff where people take old electronic equipment apart and go through in detail fixing them again. Game channels showing off latest games etc etc.
That stuff would never make it to TV for obvious reasons or be turned into some horrible bastardised version.

Bad Influence hasn't been on in 20 years. How 2 ended in 2006.

Fun bonus fact: Violet Berlin from Bad Influence is married to Gaz Jones from How 2.

Looks like the BBC have the right idea with BBC3 going totally online then, even if they do trolling clickbait telly as much as anyone on Youtube.
