All the best Tank, definitely off in the right direction by the sound of it so keep your head up.

In lighter news, I've just bought myself a 2014 plate Skoda Octavia 1.4 SE.
After 8 years of ownership, I have finally run my 52 plate Honda Civic into the ground. Handbrake issues, brake disc issues, a gearbox that sounds like it's full of shrapnel under acceleration (it's a bit terrifying)......basically, the MOT due in 12 days would have been a bit expensive.
So, the PC fund is gone, the rainy day fund is gone (I decided it was about to get super rainy if I didn't do something  ) and I chopped in my works share save scheme and I will take ownership of a very shiny, very clean dark blue Octavia tomorrow.

I am legitimately sad that the Civic is going, but at least she isn't going to end up in the hands of some chavvy oik who is going to put a big wing on her and play terrible music too loudly

£80.

Honestly, it's about what I expected.
4/8 panels are lightish red where the rest are red, there are scratches on the wing mirrors (not my doing), a dent in the back wing (again, not my doing), the previously mentioned issues which would have cost somewhere in the region of £500 before I even get to looking at the gearbox.....

They are turning the Octavia round in 2 working days for me they so are doing me a favour, no need to tax or MoT the Civic and no need to fix a laundry list of issues to get £300-500 in a private sale.

One of our work cars is an Octavia. I generally prefer the smaller, more nimble cars, but the Octavia is quite comfortable to just sit back and cruise along in. Bit cumbersome when getting up to speed though.

Someone side swiped me in it a year or so ago actually and really badly dinged up his little Toyota. The Octavia just needed a little dent hammering out of the door and a fresh lick of paint, it was quite funny.

So my parents have been clearing out a load of old boxes in their attic and they found a folder full of notes. Turns out, and I'm not sure how I've only just found out about this, my dad wrote a BBC game published in 1984 called Swords and Sorcery, and the folder contains all his design notes. Apparently he made about £1000 from it, which in those days was a tonne of money for my parents. Amazingly someone's bothered to upload an emulated version of it:

http://bbcmicro.co.uk/game.php?id=1742

Disclaimer: It's not a great game. I have no idea how half of it is meant to work, but maybe reading the notes will help with that. My dad reckons it only took him about 24 hours of coding, with most of that going on the curtain animation at the start. What's surprised me most though is that it's one of the earliest ever procedurally generated games, with only the likes of Richard Garriott's Akalabeth being earlier. Anyway, later that year I was born and my dad's illustrious game development career was cut short. I'm still amazed he's never mentioned it until now, considering how much we both enjoy gaming and what an achievement it was for him back then. A fascinating little discovery for me.

I tried playing it but could get off the starting screen. It seemed to end up in a loop asking me to name my character.
But still an awesome discovery there, Wrath.

It asks you to name multiple characters.

I slaughtered my way through about 15 rooms, then a man killed all three of my party. I'm going to assume he was the end boss.

Yeah, I assume it must have come with a manual explaining what you can do, because I found a few items and no way of using them. Not sure if they add to combat stats passively, maybe? I'll ask my dad next time I speak to him, assuming he remembers!

Are there any romance options?

He's retired now, maybe I could convince him to do a romance DLC.
