A bunch of wild pit bulls were on the rampage in Bolton yesterday and some if not all were shot on sight by police. The thing is when I showed the pictures to my son he instantly recognised the shop in one of the photos as the exact same one he would normally go in before he goes to college.

And by wild pit bulls you presumably mean someone's collection of fighting dogs (or pets that have been trained to be aggressive), because people are awful.

Lidls sell wiener schnitzels (German favorite basically pulverised pork that's breaded. Other varieties and the like).

Thought to myself oooh, make a sandwich out of it. All cooked and lovely but it gets quite greasy, and it can also be quite tough.

Cue the sandwich completely falling apart, tomato sauce everywhere and me trying to finish off a meal like a caveman, not good.

Sticking your wiener in a sandwich is not a good idea.

Question for travellers here:

When travelling to the states on a British passport, is there a minimum set of months the passport has to be valid before and after the trip ie. Six months before and six months after?

Got to fly out near the end of the year and I'm alright but want to ask for others.

6 months rings a bell with me but it's been a few years since I was there. It's probably sensible in general to get it renewed if it's getting close anyway.

Yeah I think they can be a bit iffy in the US about a passport that expires within 6 months. Definitely safer to get a new one.

Thanks chaps. We're trying to assure her otherwise, but adjusting to the sleeping patterns of a newborn is going to hit my sis and brother-in-law like a tonne of bricks

Our 2 year old has never been a sleeper. It's murdered our lives.

Congrats Sly.

I also found out recently I'm going to have another niece/nephew in October (my sister's). Already have a 2 year old niece on her side, and looking forward to meeting the next one.

To be honest, I've rather shocked myself at how much I've taken to being an active uncle (being the cynical hermit that I am). It's been a really positive part of my life.

It doesn't always get better. Our first thought sleep was bullshit, and she's six now and still takes about two hours a night to get settled. At least they both sleep through, it's the waking through the night that's the real killer.

And congrats as well Katarn :)

So after a couple of years of ridiculous power cuts the power company pipes up and says "right, we're going to dig up your road, endure 8 or so weeks of disruption and we'll put it right, for good."

They've been gone three weeks. The lights have started flickering. FFS.
