July 29th. Apparently MS are also dropping support for new CPUs in anything but windows 10 too.

For those that are on Windows 10, is it worth upgrading? I often read posts about Windows 10 as the cause of various gaming issues.

I prefer 8 but not had any real issues with 10. With DX12 you might as well take the jump while it's free.

Just beware my woes with this. Apparently the general advice is don't upgrade using the windows update tool in the tray. Make an installation media disk instead and do it from there. I didn't know this when it failed twice on me this week.

I've had no problems with 10, aside from having to remove dozens of crappy programs that installed themselves and I still don't like how programs are called "Apps" now.

Same for me, never had any issues with 10 and also didn't have an issue upgrading when I went from 7 to 10.

im sure 10 is fine. i just have an issue with upgrading to it from 7 using the windows update tool in the tray. It seems a common issue.

It's worth checking to make sure that all your devices and software that you use frequently are supported before upgrading. My mouse drivers aren't available on 10 yet so I'd lose all my macros and half the recording software I use has had issues reported with driver clashes and glitches.

No-one has had the START button not working then? I cannot open the START menu anymore.

The start menu issue cropped up for some after one of the cumulative windows updates were installed iirc. You could try installing the latest slow ring update, stay away from the fast ring.

I've had zero issues with Windows 10 on my gaming PC and that is with even after installing new hardware. It's not quite Windows 7 but it does what it says on the tin and pretty soon Directx 12 will make it the OS every gamer will want to have installed on their machines.

Or at least that's how it sounds on paper.

At some point my keyboard was switched to US and the UK language setting was deleted. Switching back involved bringing up the old control panel, something I didn't know still existed.
