Second Life

Does anyone else play this? I first heard about it when one of my tutors mentioned it at uni, and i've got a bit of free time on my hands so I thought i'd try it. Me and a friend were looking to buy some land to build a house on, but i've realised that money corrupts and this game IMO has suffered from the fact you can make real money out of it (I know you can in most MMO's but in this it's part of the game).

I went in to an estate agents and it was scarily realistic, I was sat down waiting to see an agent and then we got chatting. I told them the kind of price we were looking for and they stuck to their guns. I decided to look somewhere else and got the usual 'You won't find much cheaper than us', these people were like proper sales people, trying to hard sell to me. It was quite a shock.

And then when I left the shop, my girlfriend got stuck in it and they musn't have seen her, and she heard them say something along the lines of 'He'll be back after he's talked it through with his girlfriend'. That just struck me as an incredibly life like thing to say that you'd expect to hear from a smarmy second hand car salesman or well, estate agent, lol.

But yeah, money corrupts, but nevermind. The missus wants to buy some land so we can build a house, sounds like fun but i'm wondering if anyone on here plays it and can you tell me where cheap land can be found please? lol :D

Don't say oh dear, it's a valid thing to try out. Alright, she made me, so what, doesn't mean i'm whipped, doesn't mean i'm less of a man! *Sobs*

It's a pretty impressive platform, but it really isn't any fun unless you're actually designing stuff in the game. And even then, the playerbase is far too heavily loaded with snobby wankers and wanking furry freaks.

That's not fair, Bev. You can't just go winning the thread before anyone else has had a chance.

I used to play it with the board of biffo lot. Running around Amsterdam pretending to be a mad priest and selling wheelchairs was about as interesting as it got.

Or the time I gathered a group of about 30 people and surrounded someones house while we all typed various zombie sounds. Having a virtual prat shout "get off my fucking property!" at 30 virtual zombies was pretty amusing.

Yeah. -_-

Arf! I actually want to try it just to do that. You mean you can actually be massively antisocial and the consequences are purely fictional? Brilliant!

No idea. I'd never willingly pay for anything in that thing.

I know, neither would I, but it makes her happy so it's worth it. God listen to me, i'm so whipped. Not even married yet. :(

Wolfy will be pissing his socks off when he sees this thread.
