No, it's a huge conspiracy on behalf of Flat Earthers to devalue Big Science WAKE UP SHEEPLE.

Every fibre of my being tells me that people can't be this stupid, but then look at Brexit and Trump.

Flat earthers are amazing.

Why doesn't gravity pull the earth into a spherical shape?
The earth isn't pulled into a sphere because the force known as gravity exists in a greatly diminished form compared to what is commonly taught. The earth is constantly accelerating up at a rate of 32 feet per second squared (or 9.8 meters per second squared). This constant acceleration causes what you think of as gravity. Imagine sitting in a car that never stops speeding up. You will be forever pushed into your seat. The earth works much the same way. It is constantly accelerating upwards being pushed by a universal accelerator (UA) known as dark energy or aetheric wind.

By that logic (assuming my maths is more or less correct), then after a year (from standstill) the Earth would be going faster than the speed of light. But I guess trivialities like limitations of physics aren't much of a concern when you're trying to demonstrate how the Earth is flat.

Aetheric wind.

I think I suffer from that after too many Brussel's sprouts at Christmas.

Ohhh wait, I missed the follow up question!

Objects cannot exceed the speed of light. Doesn't this mean that the Earth can't accelerate forever?
Due to special relativity, this is not the case. At this point, many readers will question the validity of any answer which uses advanced, intimidating-sounding physics terms to explain a position. However, it is true. The relevant equation is v/c = tanh (at/c). One will find that in this equation, tanh(at/c) can never exceed or equal 1. This means that velocity can never reach the speed of light, regardless of how long one accelerates for and the rate of the acceleration.

I stand corrected. The Earth must be flat.

http://worldnewsdailyreport.com/thailan ... villagers/

27-year old David Smith and two of his friends were enjoying the first day of a two-week vacation in Thailand and had decided to spend some time at the beach.

Around 10:00 AM, Mr. Smith moved a few hundred meters away from his friends in order to put on a fake shark fin and pull a prank on them.

He started swimming towards the beach with only the fin emerging from the water, provoking an instant reaction from the local fishermen.

More than a dozen fishing boats filled with men armed with harpoons encircled the young man only 20 meters away from his friends.

They fired dozens of projectiles in his direction and speared him a total of nine times before they realized their mistake.

Not exactly an amusing story. An incoming ballistic missile threat warning accidentally triggered in Hawaii causes understandable panic.

That would be terrifying

Australia.

And I agree with the missile. Reminds me of the story of a radio station in the 70s:

On the brighter side though I saw a tweet earlier from someone who said that people ran out the breakfast bar screaming but at least the queue at the buffet was shorter and stocked up on food
