Ah there nothing fancy like IPS or 144mhz. I would if had more cash at hand but I have this screen https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... 1OLE&psc=1 . Pretty damn good screen for price :)

And so just going to grab another one and maybe this one to game on https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-25UM58-inch ... 837&sr=1-3

I'd actually looked at that LG one, but was unsure whether I wanted ultra wide, also it's an IPS screen Lee. :) You can grab it for £114 if you don't mind buying through the Amazon Warehouse.

This is the 144hz I was looking at.

Currys only I'm afraid. It was up on Amazon earlier in the week, but they sold out.

I love my ultra-wide screen, it is the absolute business both for gaming and work. Only 60Hz (34" Samsung model) but I utterly love it.

It's a pain for some games that don't natively support ultrawide resolutions. Need to hack ini files or employ third party plugins.
But apart from that it's the dog's :)

What does this increase in Hz mean to the average Joe? I take it that it looks better but do you need a super duper GPU to take advantage of It?

It's to do with how many frames per second the monitor is capable of pumping out. 60hz means you're never going to see anything above 60fps even if the GPU benchmark says it's rendering at 90+.

Not quite as simple as that due to the way V-Sync works, but generally you'll notice the difference if you're running a decent rig. G-Sync monitors match the monitors output exactly to what the GPU is rendering so it looks buttery smooth and you never get screen tearing. They're the way forward I think.

Yeah what Mantis said, 144hz monitors allow you to unlock the framerate. You will need a beefy rig to run high frame rates and high graphical fidelity.

Having not really gotten anywhere with the "teach myself to draw" thing I've tried to start over the last few years (I've found it impossible to maintain enthusiasm given my depressive state), I've signed up to a bunch of art courses from Udemy, which are seemingly all £10 each for Black Friday week. Given some of these are supposed to be £200 or more, it seems like quite a good deal.

Lee the 29" version of that LG ultrawide monitor you linked to is on offer on Amazon today for £205, I'm sorely tempted by it.
