Nvidia to phase out 32bit driver support

Postby Prey » Sat Dec 23, 2017 11:20 am

Nvidia have announced that their upcoming drivers will no longer support 32bit operating systems after a soon to be released driver set. While this may not come as a shock for many it's actually a pretty bit step in them actively supporting newer hardware as there has always been both 32bit and 64bit versions of drivers made available with each new release.

When is the NVIDIA driver ending support for 32-bit operating systems?

After Release 390, NVIDIA will no longer release drivers for 32-bit operating systems1 for any GPU architecture. Later driver release versions will not operate, nor install, on 32-bit operating systems. Driver enhancements, driver optimizations, and operating system features in driver versions after Release 390 will not be incorporated back into Release 390 or earlier versions. This impacts the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft Windows 8/8.1
Microsoft Windows 10
Linux
FreeBSD

I thought I'd post it in here as I expect some here are still running 32bit machines and would appreciate the heads up.
