Website Hosting

Postby Marty Fuffkin » Thu Aug 17, 2017 9:54 am

Right guys, I'm a technological buffoon but I just wanted to run this past the forum hive mind.

For the past few years I have used GoDaddy to host and edit my website. It's a tiny 4 page thing, but it does me for my self employment. However, the costs seem a little high for what I'm getting. The renewal works out at £10 per month, plus £10 per year for the domain name.

Can anyone recommend any cheaper alternatives?

Thanks.

I'm not an expert in these things either mate, but I set up a website last year for my book on WordPress and just renewed via SGIS hosting for a total of £45 including domain name plus their security package and a couple of other bits.
My face is tired.

Your isp probably gives you hosting space so all you really need is a domain name which is cheap.

Cheers Sly, I shall definitely check out SGIS and Wordpress.

eVol, I shall check. I'm with Sky, but we're thinking of cancelling our subscription so it might not be a good idea in the long term.
