New Kingston USB Drive Suddenly Write Protected? Wha?

Postby Prey » Tue Jan 03, 2017 2:45 pm

So I picked up a new 64 GB Kingston Data Traveller and I have no idea how it happened exactly but last night the drive became completely write protected and I just can't seem to fathom how to regain its use properly once more. I have tried Diskpart through admin but although it says the partition has been reverted back to normal upon using the drive it remains exactly the same. It also seems that Bitlocker may be causing some of the problem but I'm unsure exactly how. The drive is slow to repsond. Very slow. Even formatted it says there is an active partition taking up a small portion of the drive.

Obviously I've looked all over Google and watched a few videos but I'm starting to think that the current issue is seemingly irreversible as it may just be damaged. If however there is a chance to resolve it I'd fully appreciate some help you guys. Thanks in advance.

Looking at amazons reviews it seems to be the same issues that many people have complained about in there reviews. Slow speeds, formatting constantly or not allowing you to format it.

Better of getting a refund on it bud.

I have the DTSE9 G2 64GB version and both of them have been working for a long time now if you need a alternative or try the Scandisk models :)

There's no switch on it for write protection mode and after delving further it does seem Lee is bang on that is just a known issue with the specific brand. Only had it a week.
