New Graphics card/PSU combo. Sweet spot on a budget?

Not unless you get the better cooler options where it could be down to 60-70°C. If it's getting to 90°C though it will throttle back I recall or just crash the system before you do permanent damage.

Could see about a 3rd party after market cooler if you're really worried about it. They're dead simple to put on from my own experience.

I'm hitting 70°C max in Metro LL as I mentioned but the thing is when I'd hit those kinds of levels on my previous AMD gpu my machine would literally turn itself off.

It's nice to not have to worry about that anymore.

The 900 series runs around 70/80 max depending on your cooling. I don't get above 60, but I have good cooling and a nice cool room.

Had the new GTX 960 and PSU a couple of weeks now and I can honestly say I couldn't be happier with them both. MY PC is finally super silent after years of putting up with a horrible noise due to a PSU that just wasn't up to the task and every game I play outside of Just Cause 3 runs like an utter dream. Ironically after looking forwards to it for years I now couldn't even give a damn about JC3 I'm enjoying playing others games too much instead.

All working as they should at 1080p and a solid 50-60fps on high or max settings. A part of me wishes I had switched over to Nvidia years ago alas I have now and there's no looking back. I feel I can finally look forward to new games without the dread I used to feel at least.

Its a shame though, AMD are clearly struggling to put out a line of products that offer reliability to customers like Dave. I know he is unlucky somewhat but still. I think their gear is probably fine but its the driver support that's letting them down.

NVidia and AMD have both bad their fair share of dodgy drivers over the years. I think Dave is just unlucky, I ran with AMD cards for years and never had a single issue. The only reason I switched when I bought my 980 Ti was because the top tier AMD offering at the time wasn't up to scratch. But now the 390 Fury range is out and offering a decent competition.

I don't think there's a great disparity between the two brands at moment. It's just down to personal preferences and which horror stories you hear.
