So a while back I bought a new monitor to join the hip young 2 monitor crowd, and been very happy with the Asus that was recommended on here and subsequently bought.

Only problem, my old second monitor is giving up the ghost, taking ages to come on, flicking on and off and generally being wank.

So, looking at new monitors again. I have been looking at the super-wide jobbies thinking that with the new rig it would be rather spiffy. Budget of up to around £500 I guess.

Thoughts, my little Preylings? Dazzle me with your knowledge.

Absolutely love it, though it does go "pop" about 30 seconds after turning on but I think that's related to the inbuilt speakers. Doesn't affect the image quality though.

Is it 4k? Only reason I ask is that I was going to go for the halfway point between 'normal' (if that makes sense) and 4k, so as to preserve my rig's graphical grunt for longer.

3440x1440p - 4k Gaming at the moment is still in the early stages unless you're running triple 980Ti or something .

I'm running it with a single 980Ti and an i5 3570k and am happily running battlefront and fallout 4 at ultra.

Hmmmm i7 5820K and GTX 980 here, so should also be fine.

No worries. It uses the same panel as the LG 34UM95 and they both give great looks. Only downside is a max refresh rate of 60FPS but I haven't noticed it

What's the crack with OLED monitors? Not seen any yet. I've got an OLED TV, they're so fucking good I wouldn't want to get an LCD monitor anymore, which is annoying as my monitor is a bit shit these days.

They've been bad to make for market if I recall correctly. Yields are bad and pretty costly but I would have thought that would been sorted myself.
