Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Oh, My Mouse. Looking For Something New.

Postby Subway Diet » Wed Oct 14, 2015 6:09 pm

Oh, my old Razer Abyssus. We've seen some times, this mouse and I.
Bought while In Berlin during 2011 and it's been serving me great since then.

Only now the right click is on the way out, along with looking pretty ragged.

It looks like I'm in the market for a new mouse then. I have been searching online for ideas and browsing PC world and the like but not having a huge amount of luck settling on anything. It's pretty tough trying to "audition" mice.
Figured I'd check in with you guys as well, see if there are any suggestions that I'm missing.

Thanks in advance. :)

I have G500 which is pretty great, but I think we are at a point now where most of the mice are of similar quality. So it often comes down to personal preference.

For whatever it's worth, I've still not decided on a new mouse yet. Currently using a cheap Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo.
It's fine, but the mouse is pretty tiddly. This keyboard is better than the one I was using, though. Had an 2007 era Apple and, while I liked most everything about it, the button presses were so stiff. Not really into totally thumping on keys like that. I'm guessing a sly mechanical keyboard will be picked up down the line as well, just to really burn some cash.

Haha. Ok, here's the dumb reason why I'm actually here. So, I was looking in to Apple's own mice to see what the deal with them is. Long story short: Not great.
But the real baffling thing that I stumbled upon during my research is that, supposedly, a lot of people are really, really into trackpads.

That blows my damn mind.

Have they trained people so well on the laptops that people prefer that kind of input now? I know they've built a lot of gesture shortcuts in, but it's still a freakin' trackpad. I mean, people actually saying "I don't like mice any more. Trackpads are better!"

What? Madness! :o

Let's try this again!
Wireless gaming mice that don't look like mutated telephones: Do they exist?

I've read the Logitech G602 is the one to go for, but the amount of buttons on it seems overkill. Maybe if I learnt to use them I'd become ultra MLG pro, but I've yet to feel limited by two buttons and a clickable mouse wheel.

G700s has less on the side. I use my 602 for Dota and RTS things (6 side buttons maps well to dota items or RTS control groups) but I prefer the 700s for fps because of the bigger side buttons that I use for reload and use etc.. Both are great, the 700s needs charged every 2 or 3 days but the 602 lasts months and months but isn't rechargeable. 700s also does data over wire I case you're one of these mongs that thinks their reactions are faster than a wireless signal ;)

I assume that means it takes batteries, and not that it's a disposable high end mouse?

In that case, I'm leaning towards the 602, even if it does have more buttons than my keyboard. I really can't be fussed with cables and constant charging.

Just incase you really like the feature, the wheel on the 602 doesnt tilt.

I actually just noticed the 700s has more buttons than the 602! It has two less at the side, but 2 more on top plus it has the other 2 "buttons" from assigning scroll wheel tilt. Both gid mice though, they sure arent as good as the 1100R(rip) but gid all the same.

Didn't know mouse wheels could tilt. Won't be missing it then.

Alright. 602 it is then. :D
Bought this massive standing desk for my new place and it'd be a shame to have cables streaking all over it.

I would also swear by the G502.

I think trackpads started to become popular when Apple started putting much larger ones (with multitouch) than usual on their laptops. They're far nicer to use than they once were, though they're still basically useless for gaming.
