Then your address and when you're out! :P

You'll be glad of no more BSODS when playing Elite now and other games soon enough :)

Yup, bagged a half day from the boss, so couple of hours and I am off to collect. Once I get set up, pics will follow :)

Haha it was actually for my benefit, once you had pointed it out I couldn't ignore it :D

But yes, I am - just don't let it get out, would ruin my miserable bastard rep!

So then:

Someone is obviously doing well from making custom PCs...

Got home without too much buttock-clenching over bumps and around corners:

Out of the box, but still bagged:

Up onto the desk, now to connect it up:

Connected. Deep breath, pray to the gods of safe transportation, and press the power button...

Image

Ladies and gentlemen, we have lift off. Oh, you want me to pop the side panel off? My pleasure folks...

Just getting set up now - music dump, peripherals installation etc. Quite pleased though, ordered Windows 8.1 so that I didn't get the 16Gb memory limit of 7 Home Premium holding me back, and they installed 'Classic Shell' free. which basically gives me a standard Windows 7 start menu.

Oh, and it is whisper quiet and fast as a motherfucker - I can't wait to get some games installed on it and put it through it's paces properly!

Now you have to do some benchmarks on every game and post the results here in a table chart :P

Nice looking rig there :)

Nice one it's a belter! Enjoy it Snowy.

Although take it easy with the WD40 it's not technically a lubricant. ;)

Just over £2100.

On top of the base cost, I uprated the stock RAM to 2666Mhz DDR4, added a soundcard, specced the use of Arctic Silver thermal paste and paid a few quid extra for their 'elite cable management'.

After one night I have to say I am absolutely delighted, it looks fantastic (to my eyes, my wife was less impressed that my base unit has grown again - "I thought technology was meant to get smaller as time passes?") and runs like a dream.

I was a little worried about speccing a Windows 8 build, but did not want the 7 Home Premium option as it would limit the usable RAM to 16Gb (and the machine has 16Gb plus 4Gb on the graphics card), but they installed and configured 'classic shell' free of charge, which effectively gives me a Windows 7 desktop.

So far I have tried AssCreed Unity, Crysis 2, ARMA3, Dying Light and Elite Dangerous (ofc). Suffice to say, performance is off the scale. I don't have any benchmarking software (which Lee moaned at me for) but on all the titles, with everything maxed it is silky smooth, nary a judder or flicker in sight. The only sign it gives is a slight whoosh as the fan speeds ramp up.

I have not got everything arranged to my satisfaction yet, but once I do will give you a 'cockpit view' :)

Very happy for you mate, always good to receive a nice bit of new kit. Interesting that you've got DDR4 RAM in there! Didn't think that was gonna be workable till Skylake came out. I must now furiously research!
