The "Help me upgrade my phone" thread

Postby Rossell » Mon May 27, 2013 8:43 am

Hello folks. Upgrade time again and I'm seriously considering the Samsung Galaxy S4 if I can get the price plan for it. Anyone else have it and think its a good phone?

I've just recently upgraded and went with the HTC One and I am very happy with my purchase. I think it is a much nicer looking phone and the shape has a much nicer feel to it. It does pretty much everything else that the Galaxy does apart from the eye and no-touch scrolling. In the end they are both excellent phones and it probably comes down to how you feel about the designs of both. I'm equally happy with my HTC as I managed to get it on a 18 month plan.

People I know who have problems with HTC = 0; Samsung however...

I have the One X and the only problem I have with it is shite radio.

I'd go for the HTC One or Galaxy S4 if I were you. So sick of iPhones now that I can't wait to dump this one for an android.

I just got a nexus 4 and I quite like it, £26/month on Three's "all the things" plan. The s4 looks quite tasty but I couldn't find it any cheaper than £40/month on the same plan.

The S4 seems to be getting better reviews but haven't heard anyone who has the HTC complain about it.

While we're on the subject, you'd think Three would let me upgrade early if it meant getting tied into another 24 month contract without having to pay off my current one which runs until November. :x

Aye, if you must go cutting edge, the GS4 or the HTC One are the answer.
If you want to save a touch of cash, go the Nexus 4 route.

I suspect I'll be going the Nexus route in August when my contract is up.
Just for the guaranteed software updates if nothing else.

Quick question. Does the Iphone 3GS need a micro sim card or is it just the regular sized one?

Normal SIM for the 3GS. The 4 started using Micro SIM then the 5 used Nano SIM.

How rude! What Is the point of being a member of a forum if I can't get other people to type stuff into google for me? Huh, HUH!?

I did actually google it and I was 99% sure of the answer but I just wanted some confirmation from people I trust rather than some random on yahoo answers. Thank you, Heed :D

Bumping forward in time, I'm getting fed up of burners if they won't let you top up an existing number and a newer budget smartphone would be good, is there any point trying to differentiate between the 50 gazillion Android models out there or is it all about the price? I think Vodafone crashed their prices to 20 quid for the basic model so that would be a start.

Alternatively have Windows phones improved a little bit and is it an equal-opportunity hackfest when it comes to security? Planning to get on with Windows 10 before the deadline so any Winphone users let me know how they've been to use, or are they only a good bet if thinking about a contract tie-in?
