Help Organising Folders in Windows

Postby Edam » Mon Jul 30, 2012 8:27 am

I'm not sure what's happened but all of a sudden my files and folders aren't organising as they used to.

I just want to organise a folder so that, within that folder, other folders are at the top and thereafter there are word docs and excel docs (i.e. filter by type)

But, when I do that, the 'types' are filtered further by name. I want to filter them by date modified, but when I select that the folders ALWAYS go to the bottom of the pane, which I don't want.

Is there any way where I can have folders ALWAYS appearing on top, and everything that follows is filtered by date modified?

Yeah, trying different combinations doesn't seem to work, unless there's a specific order I'm missing >.<

Tried just ticking Date as for me that puts the folders first then the files underneath but not in a alphabetically order but the date. Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick here :?

I just tried it on my home drive here at work and if I hit date modified twice it then it lists the folder from oldest to newest (top to bottom) then files oldest to newest (top to bottom). Don't seem able to get it to order them the other way round with folders at the top but meh :P

Yeah, I can't get it to do folders newest to oldest followed by files newest to oldest.

I can get files to go newest to oldest but then the folders get thrown right to the bottom which isn't helpful at all >.<

If I want folders at the to, everything needs to go oldest to newest which is equally a pain in the backside.

So I've just got to choose one of two equal evils. Bah. I swear there never used to be this difficulty!
