New PC Time!

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Really? I'm running Win 7 on a 60Gb drive and have been for about a year or more and it's fine. You just need to redirect the library entries to new folders on your storage drive.
IMO :P  :P  :P

Aye, best redirect on a fresh install before WinUpdates though, but 128GB is more than enough.

128 is probably enough for now, but wait till Win 8 comes out - that'll probably gazump an extra 30 or so! Or maybe I'm just being finicky about getting an SSD.... :?

Just did a quick breakdown of the local drive:

51GB - Users
-> Public 31GB (World of Warcraft)
-> My profile (12GB is itunes related. Apps that I have bought but that it won't store on my NAS where the rest of my media library is. 5 Gig is APP data & a couple of gig for my documents and downloads)

17GB - Windows (a lot of crap)
6GB - Program Files (Adobe 1.2gb, Common Files 1gb + other various bits)
3.5GB - Files (including my page file)
3GB - ProgramData (1.3 of which is package cache then various including AVG, MYSQL & bits)

The rest is negligible.

Total is nearly 82GB of a 93 Gig partition, but it all adds up. And at a minimum I reckon I'd be using 48 gig....

If I'm honest, the only bit that reaaaaally bugs me is itunes. And savegames that decide they will save in my documents - bloody awful MS logic....

You can have My Documents, My Music etc. on another drive though, they don't need to be with the System drive.

Well...guys...er...I bought one...

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 B50 (Quad Core) each core runs at 3.2Ghz
Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333
Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M
Dedicated Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB
Primary Hard Drive: OCZ-Solid3 SSD Drive
Secondary DATA Hard Drive: 500GB Western Digital HDD
Operating System: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I'll simply buy a new gfx card for it and that's me all done. Woo new PC at last! :)

You surprised me going back to AMD mate but what the hell, they're cheaper. Only annoyed by the lack of mention of which power supply yet again which is taking the proverbial in modern times. Open up the case the minute it arrives and tell us what it is and budget another £80 just in case.

I'd never attempt an ebay PC-making business starting them at 99p. Sooner or later you'd have a bad bidding day on one of them and make a big loss, eating up whatever profit you had been making with the previous 10 or so.

Seems a fairly good deal though Dave. Just have a look inside when you get it and double check everything.....

If the data drive is a Caviar Blue I can vouch for that if it's packed properly for transit and doesn't get damaged, but being an Ebay buyer this time you should have proper protection and be on the right side of their rules.

If the PSU checks out then you can look into the CPU and see what RAM speed it'll tolerate, the theoretical max is 16Gb so another two sticks of 4, but best to put it through the same Tribes workout that you've done with the old machine and see if it can handle the workload of your videos etc, then we can discuss other little upgrade bumps.

Well it arrived and she's currently up and running.

I actually shit it when I lifted up the box as it was so damn light I thought there was nothing in it. But it booted up right away and extremely rapid and is everything the guy said it would be. And holy shit at the OCZ SSD drive.  You guys weren't holding back when you said how awesome they are.

It idles at 37C so that's not bad at all and the PSU (whatever it is) seems great so far and it's quieter than my other machine prob thanks to the lesser gfx tho. Here's the Win 7 index:

Obviously I do need to look for a new gfx card (this 5450 has a measly 650 clock/533 memory  ) isn't going to do much gaming when I could oc my previous 5770 to a 1300 clock np. I'm still gonna give Tribes a go on it just for the lulz. o_^

I'm happy still considering the price and it is brand new and worked fantastic right out of the box. Now to find myself a decent gfx card and let the gaming begin!
