New graphics card

Postby Scrappy » Mon Apr 30, 2012 1:21 pm

Hey guys, need a bit of help here.

I have two in mind :

gtx480 @179.99 or
gtx570 @239.99

As i see it 570 has a couple of extra features and runs cooler, but do i really need to spend an extra 60 for that? Help would great. especially if you have either of these cards.

The 480 will purr along at max settings for years. It's the one I would go for out of those two.

I don't know whether it's any help, but about 6 months ago I got a 560GTX-Ti and I've been very happy with it.

This one:

Also, I'd really like to plug Quiet PC, always get my cards from them, and they're always near-silent.

This might be useful as well:

I've got Sly's card, and I agree for the money it's awesome.
I haven't found a game yet it won't play happily at max settings, including Crysis 2 and Skyrim with the enhanced texture pack. Looking forward to letting it loose on Bioshock Infinite when it's released to see how it copes, I'm not expecting to be disappointed.

I'm very tempted. For 179.99 I could easily SLI them in a year or twos time when they aren't able to run games at max. I think I'm going to go for the 560 ti. One I looked at long ago, didn't think it'd still be hitting max settings.

A 3rd for the 560Ti :)

Make sure it's a Ti though. There's a few places with specials on for the non-Ti version.

Whilst this card remains on sale I think it's going to be my next one as well, as it can sit in my current setup and then I have a GPU that will go straight into the next build.

Just to check, is there absolutely no Radeon out there that even compares at its price?

I'm sure you've seen said charts before, if not, there's a healthy selection of games and tests to browse.

But at £154 (cheapest on Scan), not that I am aware of.
