Weird router problem....

Postby eVoL » Fri Nov 25, 2011 12:54 am

I have the stock Virgin modem/router right now but its acting rather strange. Every now and then (say once a day) it doesnt disconnect but it seems to stop any new connections connecting to it. For example, I can be playing Eve without a hitch yet Chrome will be showing no connection available, no new prog that I start will be able to connect and nor can my consoles or my iphone. Yet still, progs that were running (Eve and TS etc..) continue to work perfectly.

Any ideas? Its so weird....

Got anything else you can test it with? A spare laptop/smart phone etc etc?

Is it a DIR-615? Virgin gave us one of those lovely pieces of kit when we went on our 50mb package and it's done nothing but give us connectivity, IP and DNS issues for the year.

My advice is don't use the standard firmware because half the features don't work on it anyway. Use the custom dd-wrt pack that has the right compatability, ever since we installed it there hasn't been a single issue.

Really? Cool, I might give that a go. Same issues with new connections and I have that router.
