So, effective cooling solutions then.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

So, effective cooling solutions then.

OK. A lot of you have heard my moaning and groaning over this over the last few months so I've decided to heap it in here.

Essentially I'm having a lot of trouble keeping this PC at a cool pace under full load. The cores are averaging about 65C each which means the absolute temperature must be hitting 70C. This is after installing a brand new heatsink and fan, which I'm now wondering if I've fitted correctly. But it also leads me onto how best to create the coolest environment possible for your PC.

I'm running an Antec 300 case. Beautiful understated thing. It has the capacity for 5 120mm fans. 2 at the front bringing air in, one at the exhaust port for the heatsinks excess which shoots away, one at the top between the heatsink and exhaust port shooting out and one at the left hand side towards the lower back shooting in.

The two that confuse me are the top and side one, should they be going in or out flow wise? I'm considering a new more open desk to give the fans more space to breathe, but I don't know if that'll do the trick. Whenever I'm playing BF3 for example even though the game may run smoothly, the fans do kick themselves into full stupid high gear to the point where I'm wondering if my PSUs backup fan is kicking in. And thats worrying.

At the end of the day, the system will tick off its 2nd birthday in February with the i7 920 powering it having been on the market for 3 years this month. Furthermore the 5850 isn't quite the fastest thing around right now and I don't know if the systems just simply been outdated by BF3s demands, or if somethings borked. Let me know what you think.
