I heard one of my favourite songs on a sound setup with a big sub-woofer and noticed a lot more interesting things going on in the lows.
So, of course...

Should be smarter with my money, but wanted bigger sound.

Just picked up a Steam Link from CEX in town for the princely sum of £22 in practically brand new condition. Planning on buying Yooka-Laylee and playing through the game in local co-op mode in a few days on it. :)

Nice. I've been thinking of grabbing a Steam Link next time they are on sale for a decent price.

Got one for about £16 in the new year sales and haven't really been all that fussed about using it for games. It does work great as an easy way of streaming movies onto my TV that I've downloaded though.

Avoid the controller. It cost me twice as much as the Link itself and is absolutely rubbish.

I'm actually amazed at how great it works right out of the box. I was up and playing Mafia III in moments and had only marginal amounts of lag while driving without even changing any settings and running completely on the wi-fi connection. Also played a bit of Darksiders Warmastered and that game just flew as if I was sat playing it on my desktop upstairs. I'm going to connect it via a lengthy ethernet cable though tomorrow which will improve it even more so while lowering the res and choosing to fast mode. Pretty impressed overall if I'm honest.

Having the option to play games together in a more social surrounding again come the weekends when I have friends round will make a nice change.

If you're going to run it all via cables I wouldn't bother changing it to lower res/faster speed, you won't need to. I'm wired up fully and just use the default resolution and speed options and I've never seen any slowdown at all. The latency is ridiculously low.

It makes GTA5 running at 120fps on a 40" TV look pretty spectacular.

Yeah. On wifi I could feel lag, wired it's pretty near perfect. I kind f like the controller in some ways, I think if they did one that was dual sticks and a trackpad instead of the road it could be great.

Hooked it up to a lengthy ethernet able today and yeah it's all peaches and cream compared to over a wi-fi connection. Amazing what a little box like that can do.

Bought an aftermarket cooler for my GPU because the current fans in there sound like a jet engine.

Like a damn fool, I've manged to make a right mess of the installation. Let's just say that, if anything has goes wrong with the card itself, there's no chance of getting a replacement under warranty. A hacksaw may or may not have gotten involved.
