An iPhone and iPod Touch thread

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Fucking ARF!

Just watched the IOS5 video. "We push ourselves to create such wonderful new ideas of wonderment because were so good". When actually whats happening is "We looked at the jailbroken apps and ripped them off". Seriously, like everything in that video has been available on jailbroken phones for at least a year. Its good that they are adding it all but by god they could share some credit with the guys that actually came up with the ideas in the first place.

Oh but have they let us use custom TXT sounds? YES! Oh dear lord it only took them four years but theyve managed to give us the most basic feature all other phones have had since the late 90s.

I probably wont bother jailbreaking now.

No it's legit. But you've always been able to download the iRinger pc app which converts any media format into a 30 second or less clip in the iPhone ringtone format.

Edit: Doh. Nevermind. -_-

Yeah. ¬_¬ And for custom ringtones you just rename and m4a to m4r and drag it into itunes, you dont need any prog.

Currently playing and tentatively recommend....

Hunters
Kind of XCom light. Turn based strategy (with overwatch!) with RPG upgradeyness and research. Its not the most huge and deep game in the world but its nicely presented and does its thing well. You have to rename your first two characters Jops and Jools and restart if either of them die.

Distant Star
4X light. Somewhere between Wing Commander Armadas Armada mode and Spaceward Ho! I think its the best 4X Ive tried so far.

Jetpack Joyride is pretty good fun. It's the latest Barry Steakfries game.

GP story should be out on iphone now, and the footballing one just got released on android. No sign of Game Dev Story 2 yet though, although there's a few other new games which haven't been translated yet.

GP Story worth playing if you're not a fan of the sport?

I quite liked it, you build the cars, hire the crews and drivers and watch the races. Try the lite version and see if you like it, its more like Game Dev than Hot Spring story.

Yeah sounds like it might be worth a try, cheers.

I've just read that Bullfrog are releasing a remake of Theme Park on the iPhone. Could go either way I reckon, I'm not going to get my hopes up after the awful Nintendo DS version.

Think that's going to be a remake of the 3D one.

I finished Plants Vs Zombies last night, and it's got me interested in Tower Defence games - a genre I'd completely ignored until now. Can anyone recommend any of the better ones to investigate? Ta.
