Sennheiser HD555 £51

Postby mrk » Wed Jul 25, 2007 10:46 am

These retail at £75 average but on Amazon you can get them for £51 which is about a tenner more than the HD485.

Mine arrived today (replacing the 485) and let me say this, they are awesome, everything you'll read about them everywhere is true. So comfy, sound quality and imaging is excellent, build quality is excellent and they're a considerable step up for sound quality over the 485 which are excellent themselves but for £10 more it's totally worth getting the HD555 over the 485 while they're still available at this price.

The earpads are soft padded satin type material too, feels like a soft teddy ^_^.

GET THEM!

Yeah, I just bought some of these myself. I am enjoying them even more then the HD595 set I had before (a while back) - much more comfortable. Very teddy-like. ^_^

TeddyBear >_< !!!

HD595 was my primary buy but after I saw the 555 for this price I just had to get them instead.

Also like the 485 they're easily powered by small devices like my K750i which I've been sampling it on whilst at work though the sound will be tenfold better when I get home and plug into the nad amp. Today is a great day \0/

My old HD595s came with a stand. After they broke I held onto it, so I just use that one. Nice photo though (as usual).

Thanks ^_^ In 2 years time I'll get the next model up but in the 6xx line, I intend to go up a generation every 2 years :D

The 6xx line are fucking ugly though. And more expensive. ¬_¬

EDIT: Oh, but if they brought out a 666 model, I'd get it just for the "LOL! SATAN!" factor. -_-

I don't give a monkeys on how a headphone looks, if it sounds killer and is in my then budget I will have it! I had the Grado SR60 before getting the HD485 and they looked like they came from the 60s (which they pretty much did) but sounded superb in almost every aspect. They're not a headphone suited to gamers or movie watchers though, mainly rock/electric music.

Sennheiser has that laid back sound to them and the sound stage suits gaming and movie watching awesomely.

6xx are more pricy yep but that's the whole idea of upgrading :p

I also don't like closed back headphones, open air is where it's at.

Then you are obviously the anti-Doug.
