The PW Viruses, Spyware, and Scams Thread

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Opera 11.50 and a bunch of MS updates that download when they feel like it

The update is automatically downloaded like FF, but seems to wait for the user to push the button. No complaints so far, top tabs slimmed down a bit, would have to use it a little more to see all the changes.

Meanwhile, stupid Microsoft have some more stupid .NET updates out that take ages to show up, download and install.

4-8 Winupdates

...you get the other 4 if you've got Office whatever installed.

Yeah, and four updates that installed automatically on my desktop were dumped into the "Optional" section on my laptop and I had to get them myself.

I hope Win8's Winupdate will just work full stop rather than the way it's been in XP and Vista, only installing 24hrs later/when it feels like it or when you manually search for more updates after it "finishes" the automatic set.

10 Winupdates on average [EDIT] inc two .NET updates

...didn't see any Office updates this time, not for 2007 anyway.

The .NET updates as always will just sit there and not auto-install even when the screen says they have. Business as usual from Microsoft...

Firefox 6.0.1

On its way or auto-downloading now...

Opera 11.51

A few tweaks here and there, but 11.50 was solid enough to last two months.

Then FF 6.0.2 and an update to Flash Player 10 in browsers also turned up this week.

Firefox 7.0.1

At least they didn't bother with the .00 release, so once this auto-updates you can just get on with it.

Zeus 2.xx botnet mutation

MSN thinks this bot is back, search on Google about 2.0 and it was reported as having a fix in August last year. Even so, be careful out there if you use internet banking, do the usual dull housekeeping on your hard disk and other basic precautions.

Opera 11.52

Auto DL and updated, one of the few fixes is for torrents. People mad for new TV, give that a go and see if it still crashes.

If you're a Plusnet user, random sites are refusing to load, eg The Guardian, and others do load but are slow with picture info - and some Avatars on here aren't showing. They know about it, not much that can be done really except stick to the sites that work or log off and do something else until it's sorted.

It's weird - with BT all last week, there were periods where sites weren't loading images properly. Plusnet are related to them aren't they?

Been back to normal these last few days though.

Yeah Plusnet are BT-owned, but spun off, so the Wholesale side won't give them faster service or any perks like that. Seems to be back to normal today for me anyway.

Didn't realise Plusnet were affiliated to BT... that's soured it for me a bit.

Had the slowdown thing, thought it was my router but pleased in a way to hear that it wasn't. The one site that worked perfectly throughout was Preys World! :o
My face is tired.
