IGN buys Humble Bundle.

Humble Bundle has been purchased by IGN Entertainment.

In a statement on its website, Humble Bundle announced IGN Entertainment had acquired the charity and online game store.

Humble co-founder Jeffrey Rosen said IGN would help the company continue its quest to “promote awesome digital content while helping charity.

“We chose IGN because they really understand our vision, share our passion for games, and believe in our mission,” said Rosen.

IGN executive VP Mitch Galbraith said the company doesn’t plan on changing anything Humble Bundle or the Humble store is doing because “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” IGN had been courting the company for “nearly a year,” Gamaustra was told.

“The idea is just to feed them with the resources they need to keep doing what they’re doing,” he said.

You can read the full statement regarding the purchase on the Humble Blog.

Over the seven years Humble has been around, it has served 10 million customers and raised over $106 million for charity.

IGN Entertainment is a subsidiary of Ziff Davis and wholly owned by j2 Global.

Additional information on the deal or terms were not provided.

Quite witty there Sly :)

I've never used this humble thing. No idea if thus is a good thing for Humble customers or not. Suspect not.

It says they're just going to continue funding them and let them carry on otherwise as they were. Humble is quite often a fantastic value site, both with the regular bundles and the monthly subscription bundle they do.

Let's just hope it stays that way and IGN stick to their promise of leaving them alone.

Just not sure why they would spend money on buying them if they didn't have some intention of further monetizing the thing.

Who knows maybe they are being altruistic and will leave them alone to do their thing.

Oh you sly fucker you......

I should read out aloud some stuff before commenting!

To be honest I think a rise in prices and then some dodgier stuff will arrive. Always seems to go that way with a buyout no matter what they say.
